**HEALTH & SAFETY AND SQF PRACTITIONER**

:Reporting to the Group Human Resources manager, the Health & Safety/Food Safety & Quality Technician is directly responsible for daily tasks involving Health and Safety and Food Safety/Quality (SQF) and Government Regulatory (CFIA and FDA) requirements at both Peeters locations thereby, requiring light travel between Peeters locations from time to time.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Responsible for all Health and Safety/Food Safety orientation, training, job site inspections and reporting.
- Assists in the creation of documents, implementation, maintaining and monitoring of GFSI Systems and Health and Safety Program.
- Oversees Systems pertaining to Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, Health & Safety, Sanitation and Preventative Maintenance
- Assists in the development and improvement of quality programs and procedures
- Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations, and make recommendations for their implementation.
- Perform job site safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations.
- Observes the operating practices and procedures and encourages continual improvement.
- Performs Walkarounds inspecting for non-conformances, ensures all personnel have proper training and safety equipment such as prescribed PPE
- Lead JHSC meetings and SQF meetings
- Performs Walkarounds executing in process checks for quality (i.e., paperwork being completed, date code checks, label check, skid check)
- Design safety standards to conform to industry standards and federal, provincial and local regulations.
- Develop and implement complex safety programs by inspecting or reviewing areas, equipment, processes, and work activities
- Perform spot checks of quality and scales while product is on the line and being packaged, checking quality of mushrooms, including weight and checking of harvesting rooms
- Inspect equipment for faults, damages and cleanliness
- Completion of monthly and yearly tasks including; testing Hydro Foamers, thermometers for calibration, products sampling, water sampling, pest control etc.
- Coordinates training and maintains records of staff training sessions and activities, related to Forklift, First Aid, Bobcat, etc. and enrolls staff in courses and workshops that promote development, effectiveness and efficiencies
- Performs as a Backup liaison for GFSI audits and CFIA/FDA inspections.
- Assists in reviewing, verifying and signing off on all checklists, maintenance records, deviation reports and corrective actions
- Assists in internal and external audits
- Ensure the timely completion of accident/injury reporting, conducting necessary inspections and completion of any WSIB related documentation
- Develop and conduct occupational safety training for various workgroups, including evaluation and modification of programs to meet local, provincial, and federal OHSA requirements.
- Direct and review the analysis of accident and injury data, identifying the needs for new or modified occupational safety programs and offer guidance and training to all levels of staff and management as necessary.
- Perform other job duties as required

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**:

- College or University Diploma in related Field
- Safety Certification trainings considered an asset
- Food Safety Certification preferred
- 2 years experience with Safety and Food Quality and/or Health and Safety
- Internal Audit and External Audit experience 2+ years preferred
- HACCP training
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the OHSA and workers' compensation legislation.
- Valid driver's license with

**Salary**: $55,000.00-$62,000.00 per year
