Summary:
The mixer driver is responsible for the safe loading and delivery of the ready-mixed concrete product and other associated products to construction job sites, in a safe and efficient manner and within a reasonable amount of time, due to the perishability of the load. The daily work schedule may consist of six, up to 10+ hour days, with overtime on both a voluntary or mandatory basis for the work week, as well as on Saturdays, depending upon business requirements.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:_These basic responsibilities of the Ready-Mix Concrete Driver include, but are not limited to the following._
- Arrive at work 15 mins prior to your stated start time.
- Notify of absence at the earliest convenience.
- Perform a pre-trip inspection of the Ready Mix Concrete Truck, in accordance with Company Policy and Provincial/Federal regulations. The pre-trip inspection includes, amongst other things air brakes, tires and driver controls etc, (advise Dispatch of any issues).
- Report to Dispatch, that the unit # is ready to be loaded.
- Fill the water tank prior to each delivery, inspecting to ensure all valves are shut.
- Upon receiving the go ahead from Dispatch, back under the plant, charging the mixer to receive the product, you may be required to add extra product/admixtures either before or after loading.
- Use a reasonable amount of time to inspect slump and wash in after loading.
- Carefully read delivery slip to ensure you are familiar with what you are carrying and where you are going, making good use of a map book and personal experience to determine the fastest route to the delivery location (double check with Dispatch for any road bans/construction in effect).
- Safely drive the company vehicle to the job site, ensuring the customer gets the desired product and slump he requires (inform Dispatch if the customer wishes to exceed 100mm/4” slump with the use of water).
- Strictly adhere to company Safety Policy as well as the Safety Policies of all customer job sites.
- Upon arrival at job site inspect area for hazards and unsafe conditions, and then safely maneuver the vehicle to the customer’s desired location, the ground can often be unstable, so caution must be used.
- As per customer needs, the driver may be required to add extra chutes to perform the task, once complete the chutes will need to be cleaned, either using the truck washout system or a location specified by the customer.
- Prior to leaving the job site, the driver is responsible for ensuring that all paperwork is handed to the customer and any monies (COD) are collected.
- The driver is expected to keep the truck clean, both inside and outside, at all times. Upon completion of the shift, the driver will wash the truck with a hose and brush, including the use of cleaning solution if necessary.
- The driver is expected to fully communicate with Dispatch and any of the Supervisors, by use of the two way radio system and the truck status signaling system (GPS). All conversations are to be kept clear and concise at all times.
- At the end of every shift, the driver is expected to perform a post-trip of the vehicle, complete and hand in all paperwork.

- The driver must display excellent defensive driving skills.
- The driver must have the ability to maintain and uphold good service standards with regards to customer and public relations.
- The driver must have the ability to clean all areas of the truck, climb ladders to inspect loads and hang extra chutes as required.
- The driver must be able to take orders, instructions and guidance from Supervisors and Management.
- The driver must be able to maintain a calm demeanor under pressure, control frustration and have the ability to deal with customers and other employees in a diplomatic manner, in a variety of stressful situations.
- The driver must be able to read, write and speak English.
- The driver must be able to do simple math, such as addition and subtraction.
- The driver must be a self-starter that is organized and able to follow through, pay attention to detail, have good job knowledge and take responsibility.
