**JOB DESCRIPTION**:

Our ever-growing team is looking for a **Counselor for the Squamish Pain Program**. In this

dynamic role, no two days are the same. What does our staff love about their work? The ability

the lives of people they serve, and in the community.

**AS A COUNSELOR YOU MUST BE ABLE TO**:

- Build trusting and safe relationships with vulnerable community members through

compassionate understanding and honesty.
- Safely support people in crisis without judgement or personal bias.
- Provide information, referrals, support services, crisis intervention when needed.
- Maintain healthy boundaries while always taking a ‘how can I help?’ approach.
- Provide individual counselling sessions.
- Develop personalized treatment plans based on our participants needs.
- Provide a liability insurance.

**WHAT YOU NEED - EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE**
- Registration as a Clinical Counsellor (RCC) or Registered Social Worker (RSW).
- Experience in providing counselling services.
- Experience in working with homeless and at-risk population.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to be open-minded and non-judgmental.
- Strong understanding of issues facing people with barriers and related knowledge of

relevant services and programs available both locally and provincially.
