Assistant Superintendent
Well hey there, future turf-taming legend
Meadowlands Golf Club is searching for an Assistant Superintendent who’s ready to jump in with both boots, lead with kindness, and keep the course so healthy it could star in a hair-care commercial. If you’re someone who gets genuinely excited about fresh stripes, soil profiles, and a well-behaved irrigation head, then you’re already speaking our love language.
**What You’ll Be Doing**
- Helping keep our turf so dialed-in it practically sings when the sun rises.
- Teaming up with the Superintendent like a true coaching duo — you’re the Coach Beard to their Ted (minus the cryptic backstory).
- Supervising and training the maintenance crew with enough positivity to make even a patch of Poa feel appreciated.
- Coaching seasonal staff through safe equipment use, confident mowing, and the sacred art of not scalp-cutting a green.
- Planning and assigning daily tasks as smoothly as a well-balanced irrigation cycle.
- Managing mowing heights, moisture, fertility, topdressing, cultural practices, and all the little turf tricks that separate good surfaces from “holy smokes, that’s nice.”
- Keeping equipment humming, rolling, and occasionally reminded that “believe” isn’t just for locker rooms.
- Tackling Alberta’s unpredictable weather like a champ — sun, wind, hail, mystery fog? Bring it on.
**Turf Education & Experience**
Because we take turf as seriously as Ted takes kindness:
- **A formal turfgrass education is required** (diploma, degree, or equivalent).
- Practical experience in golf course maintenance is expected — enough to know your Bentgrass from your Bluegrass without Googling it.
- Leadership and staff training experience are huge assets — we want someone who can grow grass _and_ people.
**What You Bring to the Course**
- The ability to lead with heart, positivity, and the occasional well-timed joke.
- A passion for teaching — especially new staff learning equipment and turf basics.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems, fertility programs, reel mower setup, and equipment that occasionally needs emotional support.
- Adaptability, curiosity, and the kind of optimism that makes early mornings feel like opportunities instead of punishments.
**Why You'll Love Meadowlands**
We’re a team that cheers for each other, celebrates small wins, and genuinely believes turf can be magical when everyone cares. If you enjoy creating pristine playing surfaces, being part of a tight-knit crew, and laughing while you work, you’re going to love it here.
Position Details
- **Full 12-month salaried position**:
- **Salary based on experience and education**:
- Opportunities for professional development, certifications, conferences, and career growth
- A supportive team that values turf nerds, optimists, leaders, learners, and anyone who knows the joy of a perfect mow line
As Coach Lasso would say**:“Believe.”**
If you’ve got the heart, the skills, and the love for turf, we’d be thrilled to hear from you.
Pay: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
