**Title**: Before & After School Program Educator

The BAP Program Educator works with children ages 4 to 12 (Pre-Primary the Grade 5) in an afterschool setting. The BAP Program Educator, alongside the Team Lead/Director, is responsible for the development and implementation of quality programming and services with the BAP program. The program focuses on outdoor play, physical activity, physical literacy, and inclusion. A background in recreation and/or experience working with children is required.

**The Program Educator shall perform tasks as are assigned by the Program Team Leads/Director. These tasks may vary, from time to time, with the evolution of the organization and include but are not limited to the following**:
i. Develop, implement, and evaluate structured, recreational based activities;
ii. Complete daily attendance sheets;
iii. Report incidents and accidents through established forms and procedures;
iv. Actively participate in the development and implementation of the program plan;
v. Supervise students to ensure a safe environment;
vi. Assist students with personal care and hygiene;
vii. Assist students getting ready for and participate in outside play and/or activities

viii. Lead outside play and/or activities;
ix. General clean-up at completion of program time (not to interfere with or replace custodial tasks);
x. Facilitate positive interactions among the students;
xi. May be required to administer medication under standard NS-BAP procedures at the direction of the Program Team Leads/Directors;
xii. Provide feedback on his/her observations of students to the Program Team Leads/Directors and/or parent/guardian;
xiii. Address parent inquiries;
xiv. Attend and participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required;
xv. Distribution of NS-BAP Program literature as required.

**Start Date**: September 2024

**Reports To/Supervisor(s)**: NS-BAP Program Team Leads/Directors

**Compensation**: TBD

**Probation Period**: One (1) Month

**Hours of Work**: Monday to Friday 2:00-6:00 pm. Additional hours to be scheduled by employer in advance for purposes of monthly staff meetings, required training, and programming planning and preparation. There will be no BAP program offered on PD days, March Break, Christmas vacation, and summer. Should this change employees will be offered the additional hours in order of seniority. In the event of school closure for snow days, power outages, and other issues the employee will be paid for their scheduled shift.

**Training**: As per the NS-BAP standards all program staff are required to have the following training;
NS-BAP Training Modules, High Five Training Modules, CPR Level C. Staff are also required to complete 3-6 hours of Professional Development as per the NS-BAP pillars per year. Program Directors will work with employees to find opportunities for PD to be completed within the school calendar year. Employers will require copies of certificates upon completion. Employers will be responsible for covering the cost of mandatory training for staff.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $16.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 - 25 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
