**HOST / HOSTESS**

**Reports to General Manager**

**The primary role of the Host / Hostess is to create a positive first impression with the guests and assist in maintaining the overall guest flow of the restaurant.**

**ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Greet and seat guests as they arrive
- Provide guests with items specific to their needs ( high chair, crayons, coloring sheet)
- Explain Kids’ Club
- Provide beverages
- Monitor guest satisfaction
- Ensure coffee is fresh
- Answer phones
- Document reservations
- Bus tables
- Roll cutlery
- Sweep / Hokie floors
- Maintain the mint bowl and toothpick container
- Keep Station 9 well stocked
- Windex the doors
- Clean menus
- Clean high chairs
- Attend to retail stock
- Manage ‘take out’ orders
- Conduct regular bathroom checks
- Take various types of payment
- Cash
- Debit
- Visa
- MasterCard
- American express
- Gift cards
- Coupons
- Charges
- Kids meal
- Promo
- Staff
- Take Out Tips into server bowls
- Cash out
- Promote gift cards and Kids’ Club cards

**RELEVANT SYSTEMS**
- **Restaurant Floor Plan (tables / sections)**
- **Wait List**
- **Daily Cleaning Lists**
- **WHIMIS (Workplace Hazardous Material information Systems)**
- **MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet)**
- **Cash Out Reports (where applicable)**

**QUALIFICTIONS for HOST / HOSTESS**
- Ability to multi task
- Effective time management skills
- A friendly and courteous demeanour
- Is willing to take initiative
- Ability to work in a high pressure environment
- Pays attention to detail
- Possesses a positive, energetic and enthusiastic attitude
- Reliable and trustworthy
- No prior work experience necessary
