Excel Career College opened as a computer college in 1989. Since then, the curriculum has expanded dramatically, but our focus has remained the same: To provide relevant training to get you into the workforce quickly.
Since early 2022, Excel Career College has undergone rapid expansion bringing our respected approach to dynamic hands-on learning to students throughout BC including new campuses that are open or opening soon in Victoria, Surrey, and Kelowna, in addition to our head office in the Comox Valley (Courtenay). Andamong the many awards it has acquired over the years, Excel was awarded the Professional Business of the Year in 2022 by the Vancouver Island Business Examiner Awards Excel is PTIB Designated and maintains representation in the BC Career College Association, including representation on the BCCCA Board. The College is a designated institute through the BC Student Assistance Program(Student Aid BC), and all diploma programs offered at Excel qualify for funding options.
We are seeking a dynamic and creative marketing professional with a background in digital marketing and graphic design. This is an in-office position focused around supporting the new Surrey campus as well as the College’s overall marketing efforts. To be successful in this position, you’ll be a motivated self-starter who can deliver creative ideas, works well in a team environment, adapts well to changes, and shows high attention to detail.
As our Marketing Assistant, you'll be responsible for supporting the Marketing team, under direct supervision of the Marketing Manager. Duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Working closely with the Marketing Manager and Executive team to create print and digital promotional materials for the College.
- Designing brochures, posters, presentations, and other print materials.
- Submitting designs for thorough review and approval processes, sometimes working with several people to get a job done.
- Participating in a combination of online and in-person design and marketing meetings.
- Creating error-free written content for social media, blog posts, newsletters, and other marketing-related projects which matches Excel’s friendly, professional tone.
- Creating, posting, and scheduling social media content.
- Assisting the Marketing Manager in planning and implementing digital and print marketing campaigns.
- Assisting with updating and maintaining the Excel Career College website with guidance from the Marketing Manager. Coding knowledge is an asset but is not required.
- Working with the Admissions Team and Marketing Manager to analyze past and current marketing campaigns, and to brainstorm and implement methods to improve future campaign results.
- Increasing the College's brand recognition and presence across social media and other marketing platforms.
**Skills & Qualifications**
- Excellent teamwork and people skills, with a willingness to give and receive constructive criticism on designs.
- Attention to detail to ensure that designs and written content are consistent, free of errors, and adhere to our Style Guide.
- Excellent time management skills to work on multiple projects at once with various deadlines.
- Creative mindset to bring design concepts and ideas to life with simple instructions.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain consistent file naming protocol and organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A strong eye for visual composition including layout, compositional balance, white space, and alignment, while considering accessibility and readability standards.
**Requirements**:
- Certificate, Diploma, or other training relating to Traditional Marketing, Digital Marketing, Graphic Design or relevant experience.
- Experience in video asset creation for social media.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.
- Excellent digital skills, including comfortability with social media platforms, Microsoft Office software, and general digital tasks.
- Experience with Squarespace or related website builders, or a willingness to learn.
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop or other Adobe Creative Apps an asset.
- Experience with Google Ads an asset.
**Job Type**: Part-time
**Salary**: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
