We are looking for an individual with a passion for fashion who wishes to put their buying experience into practice within a fast-paced retail environment. Reporting to the Director of Softgoods Buying, the Category Manager will be responsible for sourcing new items and suppliers. Your strong negotiation skills will allow you to establish costs, discounts, and advertising support to ensure that fashion-driven consumers visit Giant Tiger for all of their outfitting needs.

**Category Manager (Buyer) Role Highlights**:

- Develop product assortments that address customer needs and strategic objectives;
- Negotiate costs and terms to ensure that stores are maximizing profit at competitive prices;
- Maintain excellent ongoing relationships with vendors and conduct vendor meetings as required;
- Develop class and item strategies that align with current business objectives;
- Establish action plans to achieve sales, margin and turnover objectives;
- Develop products for Private Label programs;
- Conduct weekly sales reviews and take action to improve category results;
- Source seasonal, trendy items that will contribute to established themes.

**Category Manager (Buyer) Key Qualifications**:

- Minimum 3 years work experience as a Fashion Buyer managing a large portfolio;
- Strong negotiation skills and an understanding of the finesse and subtle nuances needed to negotiate large accounts;
- Excellent understanding of the importance of analysis and planning, with an ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate in a challenging, fast-paced environment;
- Strong interpersonal, listening, communication, and presentation skills;
- Proven leader capable of managing, motivating, and building a team by conveying work ethic, initiative, and passion;
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally;
- Ability to multitask and handle the pressures of a fast paced environment;
- Post-secondary education in a related field;
- Bilingual (English and French), an asset;
- Experience with AS/400 or similar software programs, an asset.
