Job Responsibilities
- Create photo-realistic foreground, mid-ground, and background digital paintings for integration in live-action plates, or to stand alone as their own DMP plates, preserving a unified sense of lighting, perspective, and color.
- Assist with and develop the look of shots and sequences.
- Acquire or provide photographic reference materials.
- Integrate matte paintings into 3D environments using Maya and/or Nuke.
- Work in partnership with Shader Developers, Lighting TDs and Compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard.
- Work closely with the VFX Supervisor to ensure that plates meet planned concept design requirements.
- Share techniques, reference materials and ideas with the team.
- Promote a positive, productive, and collaborative work environment.
- Act as an ambassador of Mavericks’ core values and studio culture.

Qualifications and Essential Skills
- 5+ years experience as a DMP artist
- A traditional arts background with an emphasis on photo-realistic work and environments is desirable
- An excellent sense of composition
- Knowledge of 3d modelling, rendering, and 2D compositing software
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and an understanding of Maya
- A strong understanding of the entire visual effects process

With the current COVID situation in Ontario, this is a work-from-home position. Meetings and review sessions will be conducted using video conferencing tools.
