Deli Department Backup

**The Opportunity**:
Red River Co-op is recruiting for the position of **Deli Department Backup at our Lorette Food Store located at 11 Laramee Drive, in Lorette, Manitoba**. This position reports to the Deli Manager. The Deli Department Backup adds value to our Co-operative by providing leadership to the Deli Department and assisting the Deli Manager in day-to-day operations.

Essential responsibilities of the position include the following:

- Assist with receiving, inspecting, and storing orders upon delivery to ensure all product is stored in proper a temperature-controlled environment.
- Prepare fresh value-added product and home meal replacement items as per established Co-op recipes and procedures.
- Provide leadership and direction to employees in accordance with company policies, procedures, programs, merchandising standards and overall expectations.
- Assist with scheduling department staff to meet production and customer service needs.
- Assist with resolving problems that arise, such as customer complaints, supply shortages, and staffing issues.
- Ensure the Deli Department is properly stocked with merchandise and faced at all times.
- Interact with customers, provide recommendations and answer questions about Deli products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**About You**:
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills, previous experience, and competencies:

- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a retail deli department.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. We’re looking for someone who builds great relationships with co-workers and customers.
- Strong customer focus and interest in serving others.
- Open availability and willing to work different shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.
- Available to work 40 hours per week.
