A typical day for the Analytics & Data Science Specialist
- Agility first - attend virtual stand-up meetings with the team to review progress, priorities, and issues.
- Collaborate, design, develop, and problem-solve with a supportive team.
- Check requirements, ask questions, think, explore, verify.
- Gain an understanding of data relationships, definitions, rules, and nuances.
- Identify opportunities to achieve high-quality data and enrichment.
- Provide new insights into data by visualizing trends, identifying data correlations, and building predictive models.
- Contribute ideas on presenting data, key performance metrics, reporting, insights, interface interactions, and dashboards.
- Build technical and business knowledge.
- Support operations promptly, fulfilling data requests, improving performance, gaining efficiency, and sharing knowledge.
- Document and present relevant material clearly and concisely to a target audience.
- Follow information management standards and maintain the security and privacy of personal and identifiable data.
- Work with the Analytics Centre of Excellence manager to establish and achieve goals.
What you bring
- Degree or diploma in computer science or information systems.
- Five years of data analysis or related technical experience.
- Expert working knowledge in database querying (SQL) data analysis and visualization.
- Belief in doing the right thing, taking responsibility, and making interactions count.
**Experience with**:
- Agile, Scrum, or comparable process methodology
- Microsoft SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, SQL, T-SQL
- Microsoft TFS or Agile DevOps
- Office 365 and Teams
- Data Analytics: Incorta or alternatives like SAS, Tableau, or Power BI
**Experience in these areas is an asset**:
- Pension or financial systems
- Statistical modeling
- Programming or scripting languages such as Python, R, C#, and Powershell
- SharePoint and SharePoint integration (Power Automate, Nintex)
- Linux and Windows integration
- Azure
- Data architecture: data lakes, unstructured data, data warehouses
- MetaCenter or other enterprise metadata management and data governance platforms
