Position Summary
Incumbent is responsible to ensure ongoing development, maintenance and improvement of the company’s HACCP and Food Safety Systems on a pre-determined basis to ensure the effectiveness and compliance with regulations, Company vision and customers’ requirements.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage the HACCP and pre-requisite programs which includes verification of documents, onsite observations, updates for new products or processes and a yearly reassessment to ensure compliance to regulations.
- Assist and accompany CFIA inspectors during performance of their CVS tasks and Risk Based sampling. Implement and manage CFIA rules and regulations. Accountable for preparation and participation in all third party and regulatory bodies. Maintain professional interaction with all the third party auditors / CFIA.
- Provide daily guidance to QA Department staff and plant employees to ensure that HACCP System is strictly adhered to and company food safety rules and policies are followed.
- Participate in internal and external quality and food safety audits and operational reviews. Conduct quality audits. Provide timely feedback to the QA Supervisor / QA Manager and the Plant Management on quality issues, food issues and recommend corrective actions and preventative measures.
- Audit production facility and processes to ensure managers / employees adhere to HACCP, Quality Systems, Quality Assurance programs. When there is a deviation, this is reported to management to implement compliance
- Assist the QA Manager in orienting all employees on quality, regulatory and food safety principles and policies and in ensuring they remain current in their knowledge.
**Requirements**:
- Minimum 2 years of Quality Assurance supervisory/training/auditing experience in a food processing environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Working knowledge of (BRC) British Retail Consortium Audit Process preferred
