The Health Research Advisor supports LFMO’s mandate by leading our Health Research projects and activities, participating in meetings and engagements, creating information products and briefings on health research of importance to Métis Women and reporting out on Métis Women’s perspectives and priorities. The Research Advisor will also assist in representing LFMO at several Health-related tables and committees, alongside other LFMO Health department staff. In this position, you will work collaboratively with all LFMO staff, as part of a dynamic team environment.

**Key responsibilities and activities in this role**:

- **Work collaboratively** with the LFMO team and staff to collectively achieve our goals and outcomes related to related to Métis Women’s health.
- **Serve as LFMO’s staff health researcher**, supporting the production and publishing of health research that supports Métis women’s needs and wellbeing.
- **Conduct literature reviews and environmental scans** related to Métis Women’s health.
- **Analyze qualitative data gathered by LFMO **review and analysis of engagement session notes and data to capture accurate feedback from Métis women who participate in LFMO engagement sessions.
- **Produce reports and policy papers**: creating fulsome reports, policy papers and briefing notes on Métis Women’s health.
- **Development of timely and impactful educational communications pieces** targeted to Métis Women in community to improve their knowledge and health outcomes and support self-advocacy.
- **Provides timely strategic direction** and input on LFMO’s Health research projects and proposals.
- **Identifies potential program funding** and initiatives that may assist in achieving the goals and priorities of LFMO related to Métis Women’s health research.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline, public policy, science or related disciplines, or combination of education and experience
- 3-5 years’ experience in policy analysis and development or related role
- Demonstrated ability to perform knowledge syntheses and critically appraise and evaluate research - Ability to conduct critical policy analysis, and to develop and support evidence-informed recommendations for action
- Ability to carry out culturally relevant gender-based analysis
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills, especially in support of strategic planning
- Strong time management skills
- Experience with project coordination

**Assets**
- Policy and/or research background and experience related to a Métis-specific gender-based analysis - Knowledge and understanding of issues impacting Métis Women and, more broadly Indigenous Women
- Knowledge, experience and understanding of issues and impacts related to Métis Women’s health
- Preference will be given to individuals of Métis and other Indigenous ancestry, please self-identify._
