Labourer - Calgary

**ABOUT THE JOB**

Sublatus is seeking a Labourer to support the on-site activities of the Operations team.

**JOB SUMMARY**

Reporting to the General Superintendent, the Labourer is responsible for providing physical labour support during all phases of construction and production. The Labourer provides a broad range of support in areas, such as, hand work, moving materials, clearing terrain, site preparation, shoveling and basic equipment operation.

**JOB DUTIES**
- The responsibilities of the Labourer include, but are not limited to: Load, unload and move construction materials around the worksite.
- Manually remove large rocks and debris turned up by heavy equipment, ensuring all revealed rocks and debris are clear before equipment makes further passes.
- Execute traffic control plans by placing, removing, covering and uncovering traffic control signs, cones, barricades and other traffic control devices. Direct traffic when necessary.
- Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
- Assist in water management on project sites
- Use handheld tools and other construction materials to remove debris on project sites.
- Shovel test holes by locating markers/flags and quarantine any exposed pipes. Mark test holes with stakes, paint or ribbon.
- Ensure worksite is organized and free of clutter, rubble and garbage.
- Operate equipment, such as packers, skid steers and articulating rock truck when needed.
- Other General Labour and construction related duties as required.
- Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.
- Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Due to the safety-sensitive nature of our projects, all employees acknowledge that sustained employment of this position is dependent on meeting these requirements. All employees acknowledge that further testing may be required from time to time, pre-access to certain job sites, post-incidents which may include, reasonable suspicion, or upon returning to work from injury or illness (whether work-related, or not).
- A clean criminal record check
- A physical fitness-for-duty test (25 lbs. for office employees and 50 lbs. for field
- A negative alcohol and drug test result
- A clean driver abstract
- Consent to participate in all required tests.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Out of town travel may be required.
- Overtime as required.
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
- Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
