**General Purpose**

Human Resources Generalist must perform a range of duties supporting divisional managers and HR staff. The duties consist of payroll, safety, policies, training, labour relations, relocation, diversity, education, recruiting and other HR programs. They will provide resolutions and consulting in the above areas to ensure profitable business operations.

**Prerequisites**
- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Post Secondary education in Human Resources Management required.
- CHRP/CHRL designation, or working towards, preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in HR required.
- Work experience within a Unionized environment.
- Work experience or education in employment law or other area of regulations preferred.
- Work experience in recruitment preferred.
- Experience in the transportation industry preferred.
- Demonstrated work knowledge of multiple human resource areas preferred.
- No criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted

**Operational Responsibilities**
- Assist with the administration of Company benefits programs
- Ensure effective exit interviews and provide management with analysis and recommendations.
- Participate in the investigation process and provide resolutions to employee relation issues (e.g. employee complaints and harassment allegations)
- Responsible for administering and maintaining the performance review program for the Oshawa facility.
- Perform interviews, screens, and recruit for all onsite openings.
- Maintain a sustainable relationship with union officials and oversee the adherence to Collective Bargaining Agreement and grievance procedures.
- Assist with development and maintenance of human resource databases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems.
- Provide recommendations for policies and processes.
- Plan and organize staff events and recreational activities for the Oshawa facility.
- Assist with keeping policies, procedures and job descriptions current.
- Assist in developing and implementing occupational health and safety program, policies, procedures and processes
- Advise all levels of management, JHSC, and employees on Health and Safety issues
- Ensures compliance to all company policies and procedures, as well as all government Regulations, enforcing compliance as required
- Assess training needs and provide/organize training for all employee’s, ensuring training is up to date in accordance with legislation
- Issue Certification Licenses as required
- Maintain accurate training records for all employees
- Conduct new hire orientations
- Review Incident reports: close-loop of countermeasures and follow up on action plans providing assistance with corrective actions as necessary
- Coach/Train operation on trends and goals with regards to Incident reports
- Perform Risk Assessments and assist in identifying and implementing countermeasures
- Perform and/or arrange for ergonomics assessment, as required
- Provide general information and assistance internally and externally over the phone, electronically and in person.
- Assist with WSIB claims management activities and the return-to-work program
- Professional and courteous conduct always representing the company at the highest standard
- Perform other duties as assigned

**Hazards/Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)**
- Abide by all PPE requirements
- Abide by the highest level of safety standards and be aware of truck traffic in the yard and forklift traffic on the docks.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
