Lead Caregiver in Richmond Hill

**Objective**:
The Lead CAREGiver is expected to provide a variety of support and assistance for CAREGivers in the community and clients who require extra support. Our services are meant to enrich the quality of life for older adults and their families. The Lead CAREGiver position helps support fellow CAREGivers in their pursuit to help clients and their families meet the challenges of aging with dignity, pride, care, and compassion. The Lead CAREGiver is expected to be on call for shift work as scheduled, perform client to CAREGiver introductions and serve as a role model and mentor to other CAREGivers. The Lead CAREGiver will occasionally be assigned to administrative tasks, such as providing clerical, training and quality assurance support.
**Essential Job Requirements**:
- **must be a certified PSW (certificate received in Ontario) and/or International Nurse in order to be considered for this role. Must live within the York Region.**
- Travel across our territories in Richmond Hill/Vaughan & Newmarket/Aurora to provide coaching and quality assurance to CAREGivers in the field, in clients homes.
- Lead CAREGiver must drive, have full time access to a car, and possess valid auto insurance.
- On site and in the clients home, the Lead CAREGiver will:
- Provide coaching to peers in a positive, encouraging manner.
- Have clear communication when working with CAREGivers in describing requirements and expectations of their role and responsibilities with the clients Care Plan.
- Have clear communication with clients and their family members.
- Patience to explain and show new CAREGivers new skills repeatedly until they understand.
- Care for the CAREGiver to ensure they have all the tools and resources to be as successful as possible.
- Participate in making recommendations for additional Home Instead training to the Education Coordinator.
- Work closely with the Client Care Coordinator and General Manager to flag concerns and service challenges before they become big problems.
- Schedule, collect feedback, and perform CAREGiver Annual Reviews.
- Schedule time off needs by the 15th of the month for the upcoming month and keep time-off requests within position limits referenced in first bullet point above.
- Present self in professional, polished manner wearing Home Instead polo assignment and name badge to each assignment.
- Proficient utilization of ClearCare including Mobile Applications.
- Perform CAREGiver to client introductions as scheduled.
- Ability to work holidays.
- Work week is Tuesday to Saturday 8:30am-5pm
- Ability to work a minimum of two 2-hour shifts per week as a CAREGiver in emergency call off situations.
- Attend and participate in the execution of our quarterly CAREGiver Celebration meetings.
**Physical Requirements**:
- Ability to lift, push or pull maximum of 25 pounds
- Ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel and reach
- Complete a clear criminal background check and drivers abstract
- Ability to withstand exposure to dust, cigarette smoke, mold, mildew, and cleaning solutions
- Ability to treat and care for clients and their property with dignity and respect
- Ability to adapt to various living environments and locations
- Ability to communicate with clients in a friendly and congenial manner
- Ability to work in home with cat(s) or dog(s)
- Ability to provide personal care to both genders
Pay: $19.50 per hour
