The N'Swakamok Indigenous Friendship Centre (NNFC) is currently accepting resumes for the position of**Akwego Program Coordinator - Full-time (35 hrs/week).**

**JOB PURPOSE**:
This program has been specifically designed to provide a comprehensive program to urban Indigenous children between the ages of 7 - 12. The goal of this program is to provide urban Indigenous children with the support, tools and healthy activities which will build upon and foster their inherent ability to make healthy choices. Theis program has been designed based on a fundamental principle: to improve the quality of life of urban Indigenous children through the delivery of culturally appropriate programs and services.

**SKILL/QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Post-secondary education in one of the following fields: NCCCD, NCFW, Native Human Services program or related discipline.
- Shall possess work related experience in the social service work area.
- Knowledge of social, cultural and recreational needs and interests of children and youth.
- Ability to work professionally, collaboratively with children and youth 7 to 12 years of age and their families as well as agency, community and agency personnel.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and experience in facilitating small and large groups.
- Computer experience and statistical data collection and input.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- The ability to develop and implement a children’s program which includes a participatory component.
- Ability to meet deadlines with mínimal supervision.
- Experience in implementing a volunteer program and recruiting volunteers.
- Must possess a valid Ontario Drivers license, have access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel if required.
- Must provide a CPIC, which includes screening for vulnerable position.
- Knowledge of Ojibway language an asset.
- CPR and First Aid Certification an asset.
