The retail manager is responsible for every aspect of the day-to-day operation of the retail outlet. This includes all transactions, staff, inventory, customer service levels, administration and health and safety of the store and public. Retail managers are also responsible for achieving financial objectives, managing expenditures, analyzing variances, and taking corrective action.

**1. Managing Financial Performance**:
A. Ability to set and review product margins.

B. Evaluate financial performance of products and services.

C. Selecting new products and services for the store.

D. Maximizing profit margins.

E. Setting sales budgets and targets.

F. Ensure availability of product inventories.

G. Managing store expenditures.

H. Ensure daily cash balancing is completed and accurate

**2. Product Promotion**

A. Developing materials and displays.

B. Evaluating and adapting store layout for seasons.

C. Ensure product is clean and priced correctly.

D. Ensure products are at merchandising standards.

**3. Staffing**

A. Schedule to the business needs first

B. Ensure the store is at the correct FTE’s.

C. Schedule to be posted 2 weeks out at a minimum.

D. Vacation/sick day tracker to be updated and maintained.

E. Staff are using ADP correctly and timecards are approved daily.

F. The retail manager is responsible for driving associate engagement and maintaining a positive workplace.

G. Training, coaching and performance management programs are in place.

**4. Store Look and Feel**

A. Develop store strategies to grow customer base and grow profitability.

B. Work with outside partners to seek out new opportunities.

C. 10% of your work week should be outside the store growing community engagement.

D. Maintain a clean, organized welcoming store front. Ensure the warehouse is organized, safe, and compliant with all warehouse policies.

**5. Regulations**

A. Maintain all CFIA protocols.

B. Maintain all CFS protocols.
