As a key contributor, the General Clerk is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the integrity of all Utility and General Accounts Receivable accounts for the Town.

As the General Clerk - Utilities and Accounts Receivable, you will:
- Process general Accounts Receivable accounts including generating, reviewing and correcting invoices. Ensure the set-up, maintenance and closing of accounts within the financial system.
- Accurately set-up and maintain all utility accounts; this includes monthly preparation and distribution of utility bills.
- Maintain the utility auto-pay plan, assist customers with preparing documents and ensure changes are up to date.
- Administer the collection process and generate penalties, in accordance with outlined procedures, to obtain outstanding account balances owed by utilities customers.
- Ensure compliance with provincial and municipal regulations as they pertain to utilities.
- Generate work orders and liaise with the Water, Wastewater, Waste and Recycling sections regarding account activity for utilities.
- Prepare all necessary Accounts Receivable and Utility reports to balance monthly sub-ledgers.
- Maintain physical and electronic filing systems. Adheres to corporate records management, FOIP and all other applicable regulations.

- High School Diploma or equivalent, supplemented with coursework in bookkeeping or accounting
- Experience within an accounting role Basic accounting knowledge and work experience
- Experience working with MS Office suite, Sensus or other meter reading software
- Experience with cash handling and answering public enquiries
- Knowledge of municipal government considered an asset
- Ability to troubleshoot and analyze data
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills are required
- Time-management ability
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Adaptable to changing work priorities and timelines
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Excellent organization and records management skills
