**Job Description - Finance Manager**

**Part Time
- 20 hours per week**

**ROLE**:
To provide comprehensive financial reports, as prescribed by the Board chair or Finance Committee, to satisfy monthly Reporting to the Board of Directors, and to support BFC operations with adequate detailed analysis and insights to identify changes and trends, while advising with well formulated recommendations on opportunities for increased financial stability and growth.

**VISION**:
To assist the BFC Board and BFC Management with professional financial analysis and reporting, contributing dedicated time and experience in technical financial methodologies, to strengthen the management team’s ability to make informed and timely decisions.

**RESPONSIBLE TO**:
The President of the BFC Board, Chair of the BFC Finance committee, plus General Manager of the Brantford Flying Club on a day to day operational basis.

**REGULAR HOURS**:
**DUTIES**:
The Finance Manager will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following tasks:
a. To support the General Manager and Administration and Department Managers, in their decision-making capacities, by providing timely and detailed financial information, with insight into seasonality, current trending, magnitude and probability of risk, and opportunities for optimization;
b. Be fully literate in the use and manipulation of SAGE Business Management software;
c. To prepare monthly Financial Statements, according to Canadian and Ontario financial reporting standards and regulations, and to present them to the Board of Directors at regularly scheduled meetings;
d. To oversee and assist the Auditors, with timely annual financial audits;
e. To be the communication and response point person for any Revenue Canada or other financial regulatory inquires;
f. to work seamlessly with the BFC Book-keeper on an operational basis

g. to work with the BFC Treasurer in their governance role

h. To meet with the Finance Committee and/or its Chair plus BFC Executive Committee from time to time, to discuss financial performance, and support strategic decision making;
i. To prepare annual financial Budgets for each Department, according to historical and trending financial and performance data, and in consultation with each Department Manager;
j. To prepare an overall BFC Annual Financial Budget with monthly Budgets, in consultation with Management and the Finance Committee;
k. To lead periodic (quarterly) re-forecasting of BFC’s finances based on in year performance;
l. In coordination with BFC management, maintain daily cash flow awareness with liquidity analysis on a periodic basis;
m. To manage and maintain designated Reserve Funds, in consultation with the General Manager and the Finance Committee;
n. To provide Special Project financial analysis and insight, including capital expenditures such as the purchase or sale of aircraft, or facility improvements, or other strategic initiatives;
o. To establish a professional rapport with all BFC managers and staff, to support their financial queries and promote use of full financial insight into their areas of responsibility;
p. To listen to management and staff ideas, assessing them in full financial context, for potential performance improvement and positive direction;
r. To continuously assess risk scenarios, to assist Management to build in appropriate levels of operating redundancy and financial resiliency,

s. Promote company services and enhance the organization’s image by providing exceptional customer service to co-workers, club members, customers and visitors.

t. Work with the General Manager to evaluate adequate staffing levels, consider financial systems and administration upgrades and assist with or cover other general office duties when required;
u. Any other duties as assigned by the General Manager, President of the Board, Finance Chair and Finance Committee from time to time, to sustain daily operations of the administration department.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Education and Experience:

- CPA, MBA (finance specialty), or other equivalent post-grad financial designation;
- Familiarity with and experience in the aircraft and aviation industry is preferable;
- Minimum of six years’ financial experience, with P & L and financial forecasting responsibility;
- Familiarity with Not-for-Profit financial regulatory requirements;
- Able to clearly demonstrate knowledge of and experience using Sage, Excel, accounting and financial reporting systems.
