Dental Assistant Level Ii

**SmileMakers Orthodontists** is looking for a passionate, energetic, **Dental Assistant (Level II)** to join our well-established beautiful practice in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

**What you will be doing - Responsibilities**:

- Preparing patients for treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, explaining procedures and draping patient;
- Setting up brackets for bonding;
- Performing quality inspections of instruments/devices prior to use to ensure sterility has been achieved, and integrity of packages/pouches has been maintained;
- Maintaining accurate records of patients’ oral health, treatment progress and procedures performed within practice management system;
- Setting up trays and supplies for daily procedures;
- Assisting hygienists with orthodontic procedures;
- Mechanically polishing coronal portion of teeth;
- Taking x-rays, photos, impressions and intraoral scans;
- Providing instruction to patients regarding oral hygiene, dietary counseling relative to orthodontics, and specific information pertaining to devices/braces;
- Providing reports to parents/guardians;
- Generating lab forms, submitting forms to lab and matching request to corresponding impressions;
- Assisting orthodontist with consultations;
- Cleaning/disinfecting operatories in accordance with established environmental cleaning policies and procedures;
- Interpreting WHMIS safety data sheets to ensure products are labelled properly;
- Stocking/replenishing supplies;
- Assisting with the cleaning/sterilization of instruments when required.

**What you bring - qualifications**:

- A Certified Level II Dental Assistant, who is willing to perform expanded duties in treating orthodontic patients
- Successful completion of the NDAEB Exam
- Some Dental or Ortho assisting experience considered an asset.
- Good with computers, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Knowledge and experience with dental treatment plans and insurance requirements preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of oral treatment plans and ability to educate patients.

**Experience**:

- Dental Assisting: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Level II Dental Assistant Certificate (preferred)
- NDAEB Certificate (preferred)
