**Position Title**: Pathways Programs Advisor
**Status**: Full-Time Support
**Hours**: 37.5 hours per week
**Faculty/Department**: Faculty of Liberal Arts & Sciences/ Pathways Programs
**Campus/Location**: North Campus
**Payband/ Hourly Rate Range**:Support Band I $35.83 - $41.52
**What you will do**:
Under the direction of the Manager, Pathways Programs, the Advisor, provides academic and career advising to students across Pathways Programs including Academic Upgrading, Dual Credit/School Within a College and General Arts and Sciences.
Job Duties:
- The incumbent works through an equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging lens (EDIB) to support students who are college capable but who face multiple barriers to access and inclusion.
- By developing intentional programing that focuses on career clarity, student engagement, persistence and success the overarching goal of this role is to increase the enrolment and graduation of students who, without interventions and support, would not access and persist in PSE.
- The incumbent applies theories of learning, student development and career development through individualized advising strategies and case management to successfully support students throughout their life cycle while at Humber.
- Through following professional best practices for academic and career advising, the incumbent works with students who have not yet declared a major program, who are seeking to change programs, or who are experiencing academic difficulty, and to other students as required.
- The incumbent will use a holistic approach grounded in development, intrusive and lifecycle theory and practice, designed to effectively address intersecting needs and support student success.
- This position will identify and support students at risk of attrition and provide early-intervention through proactive advising.
- The incumbent must be adept at connecting a student’s academic choices to their career choices.
- The Advisor collaborates closely with each of the Pathways Programs (AU, Dual Credit and GAS) and service areas to strategically support student learning based on the specific and unique needs of students in each respective program.
- Responsible for developing, coordinating academic skills development workshops, creating academic and career advising resources, and contributing to departmental initiatives and projects that meet faculty and student needs.
- The incumbent is expected to assist in training and demonstrating correct procedures and advising processes to a team of Part-Time Pathways Programs Advisors.
**What you bring to the role**:
**Education**
- Further education (diploma, degree, graduate certificate) in academic advising or career coaching
**Experience & Skills**
- A minimum of 3 years of practical related experience in academic and/or career advising but also including: use of CRM or client management system, collecting and maintaining a database, use of tools/assessments, working with diverse populations, and utilizing digital media platforms for student/client engagement and communication.
