**About the Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operations and Projects Finance, the **Manager, Projects Finance** will be leading accounting, financial reporting, and short
- and long-term financial planning functions for the Company’s significant projects during restart or construction phases and will have a crucial role in the managing the end-to-end accounting, forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning processes for these projects. This position is a hybrid role based at our **Toronto, ON** office.
The incumbent in this role will also be responsible to deliver the annual budget, quarterly forecasts and long-term value models for these specific assets, and provide financial analysis to the corporate management team, as needed.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
**Accounting and Financial Reporting**
- Responsible for the project accounting function and providing necessary coaching and support to the staff.
- Review and approve monthly accruals, journal entries and G/L account reconciliations.
- Oversee the monthly close process, including upload of project period results for consolidation purposes and ultimately responsible for the review of accuracy and completeness of project entity results that feed the project status reports coordinated by the Projects team.
- Oversee the proper design and operation of SOX-404 controls at the project level with the assistance from the corporate finance team and in coordination with the Projects team.
**Forecasting and Budgeting**
- Work with the Company’s project teams, including planning function, construction team, engineering team and other departments as necessary, providing assistance and guidance on the preparation of their quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and long-term (life-of-mine) plans.
- Maintain existing communication channels with site FP&A teams, serve as the primary point of contact for any questions on forecasting or budgeting.
- Follow a detailed plan and timeline for the execution of the quarterly forecast update and iterative consolidated budget exercise and help enforce accountability and timelines across the project teams.
- Coordinate compilation and presentation of projects’ forecast update or budget exercise as part of the Company’s defined budget and planning cycle.
- Drive documentation of existing and new processes and procedures, and develop recommendations for FP&A process improvement and adoption of best practices.
- Travel to projects on a regular basis to incorporate new information and plans into planning models used for forecasting and/or budgeting.
**Business Analysis**
- Collaborate with project’s planning cost controller function to provide necessary historical and forward looking financial data that feeds regular project status reports.
- Analyze financial results for a given period or periods to provide analysis and recommendations to the project team, specifically, on the status of completion of certain purchase orders.
- Support the project team in running scenario analysis to evaluate different mine plan iterations, capex trade-offs, project optimizations and other aspects of the projects’ value as necessary.
- Enhance the current state of business analysis in terms of quality of data, automation of reporting, visualization and interpretation of data and translation of data into useful information to be used for decision making by the projects team.
**About You**:
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Undergraduate university degree in an appropriate area of expertise, with preference for mining engineering, business, or equivalent technical degree.
- Must be a CPA.
- At least 5 years of related work experience or equivalent in the mining industry, including but not limited to:
Experience working with operating mine sites or construction projects, including teams within both highly technical, operational, and financial functions.
- Experience working with site level operations, project and finance teams.
- Detailed financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting and modeling experience is highly preferred.
