Manager - Sales & Marketing

The Sales Manager is responsible for driving room revenues/sales in hotel room sales in all markets (Corporate, Corporate Group, Government, Crew, Association, Consortia, LNR and SMERF) and for Meeting Rooms/ Catering, through direct sales calls, telephone solicitation and conducting site tours. They must be goal-oriented and with a proven record of accomplishments with superior negotiating and interpersonal skills. They will report to the General Manager for daily meetings to plan out leads and any prospecting opportunities.
Overall, the position is accountable for the following:
**Sales and Marketing**
- Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel to previous, current and potential clients. Use professional sales techniques to negotiate the best possible terms and conditions that satisfy customer (internal and external) requirements.
- Solicit new business through planned personal calls, outside sales calls, internet prospecting and social media.
- Respond in a timely manner to incoming to all opportunities that are within pre-defined parameters
- Able to think strategically to maximize our group potential over required periods to include use of meeting space for meetings and events. Arrival and departure patterns that fit with the hotel business needs
- Follow up on Groups to ensure customer satisfaction
- Strategic planning for the sales cycle focusing on 30 60 and 90 days.
- Effectively resolve guest issues that arise as a result of the sales process. Bring issues to the attention of the General Manager as appropriate.
- Understand the overall market - competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and how to sell against them.
- Identify and execute key action steps each quarter that will achieve booking goals
- Stay familiar with industry trends via appropriate publications/trade memberships
- Organize and perform sales blitzes to local area and out of town.
- Articulate and leverage the benefits of the hotel to close sales opportunities to guests. Travel locally to conduct outside calls, promote the hotel and review competition. Cold-call prospects, including those generated by external sources of lead for the hotel.
- Support marketing efforts such as trade shows, exhibits, and other events. Carry out/organize telemarketing sales, mail-outs and local advertising in accordance within the hotel budget. Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
- Supports the guest services department in any way possible to enhance guest experience and satisfaction.
- Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence). Create Request for Proposal (RFP) responses to potential clients
- Actively up-sell each business opportunity to maximize revenue.
- Implement process improvements and best practices.
- Execute and support IHG’s Service Standards and hotel’s Brand Standards.
- Execute exemplary customer service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the customer and ensuring their satisfaction before and during their program/event.
- Serve the customer by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate features and services that best meet their needs and exceed their expectations, while building a relationship and loyalty to IHG.
- Help prepare the departmental budget and financial plans including the hotel marketing plan
- Perform other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs
Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
