**Equipment Operator**

Fire & Flood Emergency Services is looking for key individuals willing to be part of a dynamic and growing team and ready to learn and grow with the company.
- Operate chainsaws to cut brush, logs, and stumps of larger trees. Work from the ground using gasoline-powered chainsaws.
- Experienced/ticketed equipment operator for skid steers, loaders, tractors, etc.
- Load and unload trucks
- Work around hazardous equipment.
- Working around excessive noise from machines and chainsaws and wearing proper personal protective equipment.
- Exposed to all temperatures and weather; will be exposed to nature, i.e., irritating plants, biting or stinging insects, dust, etc.
- May work on rough terrain.
- Help enforce on-the-job safety practices for crew members.
- Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area. Cooperate with customers, police, and fire departments when involved in emergencies. Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, etc., to protect employees and the public.
- Rig in hose lines for water transfer
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot water pumps
- Tracking water flows
- Hose testing, repair, and maintenance
- Forestry road driving experience preferred
- Basic math skills
- Mechanical aptitude
- Customers focused
- When not in the field, will work in the shop and complete duties as required under the direction of the operations chief

**Special Working Conditions**:

- Job may require overtime and nighttime work.
- On-Call 24/7 while on rotation
- Field environment and shop environment
- Be willing and able to work in remote locations for extended periods
- The work is both physically and mentally demanding
- Job requires outdoor work that involves exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment, such as but not limited to fire, flood, heat, rain, and snow.

**Essential Physical Requirements**
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
- Periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending and turning
- Able to operate a motor vehicle without restrictions
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy objects safely with assistance and without difficulty
- Walking up and down various terrain with 50 pounds
- Must be able to pass a physical fit test and drug and alcohol test

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Minimum 3 years' heavy equipment experience
- Valid Driver's License with Driver's Abstract
- Minimum Class 5 with 3 years of experience
- Class 1 or 3 would be considered an asset.
- Chainsaw experience is considered an asset
- High School Diploma and/or a Journeyman Trade ticket
