Environmental Field Technician

**Responsibilities**:
- Reporting to the Senior Environmental Engineer, the Environmental Technician is required to carry out field work and reporting for Phase I/One and Phase II/Two Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Environmental Site Remediation, Emergency Spill Response and other environmental related projects as requested to support the Environmental Engineering Department.
- The ET will be required to adapt to a fast pace environment and ensure field work and reporting is completed in accordance with training and regulations mentored by the Senior Project Manager/Senior Environmental Engineer. The ET is expected to learn and execute environmental sampling protocols, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures, technical report writing and chemical analysis interpretation.
- **Hours**: The ET will be expected to work a minimum of 40 hours a week
- Must own car to travel to and from sites
**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**:
- Take on assignments from the Senior Project Manager/Senior Environmental Engineer;
- Interpretation of chemical analysis results;
- Basic understanding of chemical interactions with the environment;
- Preparation of technical documents utilized by financial institutions, CEOs, industry managers and leaders;
- Supporting the technical reporting and submission of documents to the MECP for Record of Site Conditions;
- Supporting technical write ups for reliance letters and other liability documents used by clients;
- Support after hour emergency projects which include field work and reporting;
- Keep up to date with Ontario Regulation 153/04 (as amended), Ontario Regulation 347, Ontario Regulation 558/00 and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for which training will be provided during orientation;
- Take part in extracurricular activities sponsored by the company as well as industry events related to environmental engineering; and,
- Provide and manage proper documentation of resources used, including time sheets and expenses.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**:
- 4 year Engineering Degree (B.A.Sc., B.Eng.) in a related discipline (Environmental, Chemical, etc.); and/or
- College Diploma in a related field; and,
- One (1) year experience would be considered an asset.
**SKILL REQUIREMENTS**
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat;
- Good verbal and written communication skills;
- Willingness to learn and adapt to fast paced environment;
- Good technical competency in proper operation and use of various types of testing equipment;
- Good working knowledge of various sampling methodologies and pertinent Environmental and Health & Safety regulations, standards and guidelines;
- Good relationship building skills for fostering and maintaining cooperative working relationships with colleagues, contractors, and clients;
- Good time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills necessary to plan and run a complicated project or multiple projects concurrently; and,
- Good initiative and self-motivation necessary to make recommendations, take action, and work with little direction.
Pay: $22/hour

Work Location: In-person & work from home
Pay: $43,680.00-$45,760.00 per year
