**Day Camp Coordinator**:
**Summer Student Position**

The Township of Springwater, located in the heart of Simcoe County, is a mixed urban/rural municipality with growing urban settlements and a prosperous agricultural sector. The municipality is currently recruiting a Day Camp Coordinator for its 2025 Summer Day Camp Program.

Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, the Day Camp Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the development, supervision and scheduling of recreational programs, staff and activities within a day camp setting.

**Position Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for developing and implementing summer camp staff training and monitoring staff performance throughout the summer.
- Coordinate, plan, implement, evaluate and oversee summer day camp activities.
- Ensure compliance with Township policies and procedures.
- Coordinating various administrative camp related duties.
- Promote respectful interactions among staff, volunteers & campers.
- Discipline staff as needed in a constructive and positive manner.
- Conducting staff performance management evaluations and reviews.
- Oversee weekly staff meetings.
- Assist with supervision and evaluation of Leader In Training (LIT) volunteers
- Work in all weather conditions both indoors and outdoors.
- Communicate with staff & caregivers, responding promptly to staff and patron inquiries and resolving concerns.
- Ensure the safety, enjoyment, and care of registered camp participants.
- Complete all camp paperwork as required.
- Ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Minimum two (2) years previous experience working with children in a camp setting and in a Supervisory role is required.
- Must be available to work exclusively from May to August for the entire duration of the program.
- Applicants must also be available to attend and deliver mandatory training in May and June.
- Previous experience working with children or youth who have a disability is considered an asset.
- Hold a valid Standard First Aid/CPR C/AED certification (or if hired, must obtain by June 15, 2025).
- Certification in HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development from HIGH FIVE® National (or if hired, must obtain by June 15, 2025).
- Behaviour Management Systems and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is considered an asset.
- Possess strong communication and leadership skills.
- Applicants must be a registered full-time student during the preceding academic year and provide proof of enrollment of returning to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year. Preference will be given to applicants enrolled in a College or University program in a child-care related field (i.e. Child Studies, Education, Recreation, or Early Childhood Education, etc.).
- As a condition of employment, all applicants must be willing to submit a Criminal Records Search - Vulnerable Sector Screening that is acceptable and in good standing to the Township of Springwater.
- Valid Ontario G2 Driver’s Licence in good standing with access to a reliable vehicle.

**Rate of Pay**:
The rate of pay is $21.05 to $22.77 per hour (2025 rate) plus statutory holidays and vacation pay as per the Employment Standards Act.

**Hours of Work**:
This position will work up to 40 hours per week between the hours of 7:30 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday with a varying schedule to support operational needs and program demand. This position is a mixture of indoors and outdoors with work locations including Elmvale, Midhurst, Minesing, Anten Mills and other off-site destinations; reliable transportation will be required.
