Our division is comprised of four departments:
Advancement Services & Operations is the administrative and technology support unit for all Advancement activities.
Alumni Engagement provides programs, services, and engagement to over 350,000 York alumni worldwide.
Development leads efforts to promote and secure philanthropic support from alumni, donors, friends, corporations, and foundations.
Advancement Communications & Marketing works to promote and communicate alumni and donor messages along with direct marketing services for alumni and donor engagement.

In support of this mission, the Leadership Giving Officer role is responsible for the full scope of activities related to the cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship of a portfolio of leadership giving prospects and donors, typically in the giving range of $1000 - $24,999. Under the direction of the Associate Director, Leadership Giving, the role develops strategies to promote key partnerships and loyal giving for the segment/portfolio. The role solicits gifts, independently and in conjunction with senior administrators and senior fundraising volunteers, and stewards leadership giving donors. In addition, the role actively participates in planned giving, donor relations and stewardship, and sound information management. The role provides a high level of customer service and impactful stewardship to the donor constituency.

**Education**:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.

**Experience**:
5 years related experience.
Related experience, preferably within public sector or University fundraising environment.
Experience with personal fundraising solicitation.
Experience in professional fundraising, with a focus on leadership giving, stewardship, and planned giving.

**Knowledge**:
Knowledge of leadership giving, closing gifts, and meeting fundraising goals.
Knowledge of fundraising best practices and trends.
Knowledge of developing and implementing strategic fundraising plans for prospects.
Knowledge of fundraising principles.
Knowledge of the development process with leadership giving, corporate philanthropy, prospect management, and campaigns.
Knowledge of prospect research techniques and sources.

**Skills**:
Effective communication skills and ability to communicate in a concise creative, and persuasive manner.
Ability to articulate fundraising priorities in a not-for-profit environment.
Attention to details, high standards for quality, ability to balance risk, university policies and donor intent.
Effective analytical, research, interpretative and evaluation skills.
Effective donor-centric customer service skills.
Proficient in delivering formal and informal presentations to diverse groups, large and small.
Diplomacy and negotiation skills.
Ability to meet goals at the division level while fulfilling the needs of the development team.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Able to work effectively with senior volunteers and senior organizational leadership.
Interpersonal skills to interact and work constructively with a variety of individuals at many different levels, including staff, students, and volunteers.
Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of team towards common goals.
Effective project management, prioritization, and time-management skills to manage multiple on-going projects simultaneously.

**Additional Notes**:

Normal office environment.
Regular travel for meetings, conferences, and events. Occasional travel outside of the GTA.
- **Compensation**:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award. Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.Visit the CPM Compensation page on the HR Website to find out more about York's CPM Compensation Program.
