**The opportunity**:
Leduc County is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Road Operations team in **Thorsby, A**B**. Reporting to the West Foreman, this exciting opportunity operates single and tandem axle trucks, graders, front-end loaders, and other medium and heavy weight construction equipment to support the maintenance of county roads and municipal infrastructure. The Heavy Equipment Operator is a key contributor to the achievement of the department’s operational deliverables.

**What you will do**:
- Operates heavy equipment such as tandem trucks with snowplow and wing attachments, graders, excavators, and front-end loaders, performing various road maintenance functions in the summer and snow and ice removal in the winter months.- Services and performs minor maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Logs hours and complies with the Traffic Safety Act.
- Performs various labourer duties as required.
- Hauls and unloads various types of materials, gravel, earth, asphalt, water, and road equipment in designated areas for maintenance and construction as required.
- Adheres to guidelines as set out in Leduc County’s policies and administrative directives.
- Accountable for working in compliance with the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code and participation in the Health, Safety and Wellness Program.
- Performs related duties as required.
**What you need to succeed**
**Must-have**:
- A high school diploma and a valid Class 3 Alberta Driver’s License.
- Three years of trucking experience or tandem axle plow/sand truck or other heavy equipment operation.
- A service focus with good verbal and written communication skills.
**Nice to have**:
- Familiarity with County operations and knowledge of rural communities.
- A Class 1 Alberta Driver’s license.
