**What can you expect in this role?**
- Take a leading role in large projects including Provincial product reforms; regulatory changes and country wide initiatives including collaboration to define business requirements.
- Participate in large loss committees and own any corporate underwriting actions to improve overall business outcomes.
- Own, evolve and administer underwriting licensing framework working closely with the operational teams
- Lead technical underwriting reviews and turn learnings into remediation actions to enhance data quality, controls and improve risk selection.
- Work closely with Portfolio Management leveraging knowledge and expertise to solve profitability and growth concerns and issues.
- Develop and implement controls and strategies to support profitability growth, enhance underwriting quality and mitigate against risks.
- Provide competitive product comparisons when required to support ongoing changes to products and underwriting criteria.
- Work closely with Regulatory Affairs to monitor the potential changes in the of regulatory environment that could impact product and pricing, including participating as a Definity delegate at industry-level committees when required.

**What do you bring to the role?**
- University degree
- Industry-related certification is an asset (CIP/FCIP/CRM or equivalent)
- 7-10 years of related industry experience; prior leadership experience preferred.
- In-depth underwriting knowledge in one or more lines of business including wordings, underwriting decision making, procedures and policy terms and conditions.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving with the ability to select and implement best solution.
- Advanced decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills (written/oral) required with the ability to foster positive relationship across teams.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products

Salary range: $74,100 - $136,500
