CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (FRACTIONAL)

Our team brings together innovation and automotive expertise that has resulted in 17 patents issued and 18 more pending.

About the Role

Beyond the standard finance and accounting responsibilities you would expect, this role is integral to ongoing fundraising efforts for our entrepreneurial automotive technology company. The role reports to our CEO and works closely with our Controller, Office Administrator and leadership team. The role also lends some legal and administrative expertise.

Here are the most important things you will be responsible for:
ACCOUNTING & FINANCE
- Taking a prominent role in fundraising along with the CEO, including drawing on your contacts to generate investor opportunities and leveraging your experience to ensure an efficient and effective fundraising process;
- Providing support and guidance to fundraising activities, including development of detailed financial models, creating investor presentations, managing our data room, and supporting financial due diligence;
- Developing annual operating budgets and updated views throughout the year for headcount, revenues, expenses, cash requirements, and balance sheet items;
- Preparing and issuing monthly financial results, including cash flow projections with comparison to budgets and analysis;
- Being accountable for all corporate accounting activities including full general ledger, monthly and year-end close in accordance with ASPE while ensuring correct accounting of f/x impacts, overseeing balance sheet reconciliations and reviewing submittal of GST/RST remittances quarterly;
- Working with outside counsel to manage shareholder documentation including term sheets, subscription documents, share certificates, and maintaining corporate cap table;
- Administering corporate stock option plan and warrant issuance;
- Working with the operations team to prepare and present grant proposals and providing ongoing reporting related to grants;
- Maintaining accounting structure and depreciation for global patent portfolio including coordinating with outside counsel;
- Developing and enhancing processes for financial operations including expense reporting, vendor management, purchase orders, etc.;
- Managing banking relationships, along with relationships with government agencies including FedDev, IRAP and BDC;
- Working with external accounting firms to complete annual external financial review and Canadian tax submittals including an extensive SR&ED claim, and ensuring reporting compliance;
- Supporting foreign operations in Europe and China from a finance perspective;
- Providing oversight and guidance to our Controller as their manager. Controller is responsible for all accounts receivable, accounts payable, monthly accruals, expense report review and processing, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, f/x impacts, and audit support;
- Monitoring all accounts payable activities, including approval of purchase orders, coding and approval of vendor and contractor invoices, reviewing and processing of expense reports, processing of online payments and cheque issuance, cash management of payment obligations.

LEGAL, GOVERNANCE AND ADMINISTRATION
- Working with our CEO and sales team to ensure appropriate agreements are in place including mutual NDA’s, teaming agreements, development agreements and consultant agreements;
- Reviewing third party agreements with the assistance from the Inmotive team and outside counsel when needed;
- Preparing Board materials, drafting resolutions (with assistance from outside counsel) and issuing minutes;
- Supporting shareholders with shareholder agreements and coordinating AGMs;
- Creating and issuing HR agreements using templates including offer letters, consulting agreements, termination letters, salary adjustments;
- Coordinating insurance requirements and renewals with broker;
- Leading interactions with customs broker for import/export;
- Providing oversight for QBO payroll and benefits administration (completed by Controller).

About You
To be successful in this role, we expect most, if not all, of the following will describe your past experiences:

- At least 10 years’ business experience within accounting and HR, including experience working in an international and multi-currency environment;
- Prior success raising equity and other forms of operating funds for growing companies;
