Purpose and Scope:
This position is a key leader on the plant leadership team. Contributes to all areas of plant management and provide strong financial leadership. Provides financial direction to the plant and recommendations to improve plant performance.
Responsible for the maintenance and analysis of plant financial records required for monthly financial statement preparation, coordinate audits with internal and external auditors, prepare audit packages and prepare budgets and forecasts in accordance with IFRS and company policies and practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that the adherence to ISO 45001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and all Stackpole International policies and any other industry standards in all activities.
- Accurate and timely financial reporting relating to the internal operation of the plant.
- Organized and accurate financial records
- Work in compliance with Stackpole Safety, Environmental, Quality and Production Systems
- Management Reporting & Control Systems_
- Prepare regular and ad hoc financial reports and analysis for plant for senior management as well as for other appropriate parties
- Report monthly financial results to the shareholder using Cognos
- Prepare the monthly reporting package and present in monthly operating review
- Prepare quarterly reports and analysis to the shareholder to meet external reporting requirements and participate in external/internal audits as requested
- Evaluate, develop and improve any operational accounting procedures and internal controls that are lacking
- Develop and track performance metrics for the plant, “Lean” implementation and other continuous improvements principles throughout the plant
- Financially model the business with a particular focus on EBITA and cash flow
- Maintain transfer pricing documentation in accordance with the CRA regulations
- Access leading financial and I.T. systems information and practices (i.e. corporate governance, risk management, tax and SOPs) to ensure best in class reporting
- Communicate and build relationships by instilling internal and external stakeholder confidence by demonstrating global awareness, multi-cultural understanding and adaptability
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting polices
- Financial performance, risk analysis and preventative/corrective action recommendations for the protection of Johnson Electric Group and its stakeholders
- Implement cost reduction strategies which fit the business objectives
- Manage the reduction of physical inventory variances
- Track plant performance KOI’s and report to management team
- Monitor capital expenditure budgets and commitments
- Perform post-expenditure reviews on significant capital projects and report to business unit
- Track plant working capital performance to budget and follow up issues
- Liaise with internal and external auditors and corporate officers
- Accounting Processes_
- Ensure accurate and timely A/P & A/R processing
- Monthly closing of G/L
- Responsible for the maintenance of complete records supporting G/L entries, including sub-ledgers and reconciliations
- Performing accruals and maintain cut-off procedures
- Co-ordinate and attend physical inventory, analysis, reconciliation with book amounts
- Prepare financial statements and analyze significant variances
- Prepare year-end audit supporting documents and assist external audit process
- Maintain A/P and A/R sub ledgers and verify existence of fixed assets
- Costing and Quoting Systems_
- Maintain project costing systems for control of tooling, capital, and SRED projects
- Ensure SRED project costs are properly documented and are consistent with SRED guidelines
- Maintain inventory valuation and analysis
- Assist and coordinate customer audit review
- Prepare cost models to support quotation to customers
- Cash Management_
- Ensure accurate processing of invoices for payment.
- Follow up on outstanding receivables, claims, and other customer issues
- Budgets and Forecasts_
- Develop budgets, forecasts and the strategic plan business model for the plant and coordinating the activities with the management teams.
- Preparation of monthly and yearly forecasts and budget for the plant
- Prepare analysis of future projects and programs
- Track and maintain capital projects
- Track progress of continuous improvement initiatives
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications, Education And / or Experience:
- Must have a university degree in Business/Accounting/Finance
- Minimum of 5 years progressive senior accounting experience
- Should have completed or be working towards a professional accounting designation
- A strong attention to detail couples with strategic thinking and highly developed methodological, analytical, creative, and conceptual skills
