Victoria, Canada The Cridge Village Seniors' Centre Full time

We are looking for a Prep Cook for our Assisted Living Seniors’ Centre. This is a part time temporary position working 11am to 6pm, Mondays & Tuesdays with the possibility of additional relief shifts. If there is availability to extend this position to permanent and full time, full benefits including pension, sick, vacation, medical and dental would apply.

The Prep Cook is responsible for all cold preparation of foods (sandwiches, salad, fruit etc), assists in plating of all meals, and for following daily food production schedule. Further tasks will include some baking, dishwashing, cleaning, rotating food stock and other duties relating to the maintenance of the kitchen. For this position applicants must have a proven ability to follow set procedures and recipes, and possess the essential techniques required to ensure all meals and baking are prepared to the highest standards. They will maintain clean and sanitary work areas, equipment and tools in a professional manner.

We are looking for a skilled, dependable, trustworthy individual with integrity who has a passion for cooking. Someone who would like to work with other talented professionals using high quality ingredients creating delicious meals for clients, guests and staff. This position would suit someone who is looking for daytime hours in a clean professional kitchen environment and benefits.

Applicants must have experience in high volume facilities, not including convenience or fast food and current Food Safe Certificate. They must also obtain a Criminal Record Check clearance and CPR/ First Aid when employment is offered and have an ability to lift up to 30lbs regularly and 50lbs occasionally.

IMPORTANT: We are a health care setting, so Covid protocols are in place, including the requirement that all staff are vaccinated against Covid 19 and wear a mask on shift.
