**Description**:
Reporting to the Manager - Finance and Special Programs, the Weight Room Monitor is responsible for the safety and
well-being of the diverse clientele using the Weight Room. He or she is very frequently called upon to create and demonstrate personal training programs.

**Departmental mission**:
The mission of the Culture, Sports, Leisure and Community Development Department is to improve quality of life by promoting accessibility, participation, and integration of all citizens through the provision of excellent community, cultural, sports and recreational facilities, activities, and services.

**General responsibilities and goals**:
**The incumbent’s main responsibilities are**:

- Assess client needs and abilities;
- Create, demonstrate and monitor personal training programs;
- Supervise client safety;
- Educate clients on lifestyle choices;
- Attend annual conferences and workshops;
- Report malfunctioning equipment;
- Keep up-to-date statistics;
- Perform any other related task.

**Job requirements**:
The incumbent must have a high school diploma, plus six months of relevant experience in customer service or in the fitness industry (or any other combination of education and experience considered equivalent under the established policy).

**Other requirements**:

- Personal trainer certification;
- CPR certification;
- AED certification;
- Bilingual (English and French, written and spoken);
- Skills sought: Client-focused, good interpersonal communication, thoroughness, oral and written communication, autonomy and initiative.

**Schedule**:
Variable 8 to 35 hours per week (minimum 8 hours per week)
