**Position Summary**

We are currently seeking a Junior Mechanical Cost Estimator, ideally a new graduate with a technical background or someone with less than 2 years of experience in a similar role. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be mentored by senior management and undergo extensive training designed to foster growth within the company.

We are interested in individuals eager to learn, grow, and evolve into a comprehensive mechanical estimator at our Thunder Bay office. The Junior Cost Estimator's responsibilities include processing quotes, logging details, communicating changes, and managing all information relevant to the estimating function, all under the supervision of a senior manager.

**Responsibilities**
- Prepare quotes for new or existing jobs under supervision.
- Eagerly learn to use various software tools employed by the organization for tasks such as takeoffs, cost control, and project management.
- Initiate learning on the preparation of Request for Qualification packages and their submission for internal review.
- Learn to use and maintain our database management system, which includes records of business won/lost, the status of all current and past quotes, projects, invoices, and inventory.
- Learn to use and update a database that tracks historical job data, using this reference data when quoting similar jobs in the future.
- Begin learning how to file and ensure all quote files are appropriately maintained and up to date.
- Participate alongside senior managers in client meetings, documenting decisions made to identify business opportunities.
- Communicate information effectively and display proactive behavior.
- Ensure adherence to our internal policies and procedures.
- Learn to quickly understand instructions, drawings, or specifications. Prior construction experience would be advantageous.
- Show eagerness to learn new software and specific tools required in the building mechanical construction field.
- Perform any other duties, as required.

**Educational Requirements**

Successful completion of post-secondary education in a related field of study (including skilled trades, engineering) is preferred.

**Work Experience Requirements**
- 0-2 years of experience as a Junior Estimator. We encourage new graduates to apply.
- An understanding of how to read blueprints and a background in building mechanical or construction engineering is advantageous.
- Previous experience with an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system is considered a plus.

**Knowledge & Skills Requirements**
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Experience with BlueBeam or Adobe Reader.
- Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, MS Word, and Outlook.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD is an advantage.
- Previous experience with takeoff software such as On-Screen, McCormick, Trimble Auto Bid, Bluebeam, etc., is a significant plus.
