Concrete Finisher

**We are looking for** **finishers with direct, hands-on experience placing and finishing various commercial and industrial flatwork and structural projects.**

You love working on a team and possess the capability to contribute to the efforts in delivering results for our clients. Your ability to meet project specifications and create superb concrete finishes will ensure your success.

**Position Requirements**:

- **Must have a VALID Class 5 Non-GDL driver's license**:

- **Must have a CLEAN 3-year driver's abstract**:

- **Must have CSTS 2020 (Free online ASCA ticket)**:

- **3+ years**_**preferred**_ of commercial & industrial concrete construction experience in placing & finishing various types of flatworks such as mono-walks, multi-ways, crossings, stairs, aprons, ramps, curbs & gutters, sidewalks, SOGs, etc.
- Ability to work as required to place & finish concrete in a variety of outdoor conditions, where repetitive motions such as bending, kneeling, twisting, & other body positions may be necessary
- **Competent & familiar with all typical equipment/tools, aids, or additives at the proper time of the placement & finishing sequence**:

- Comply with all company, site, & client safety policies & procedures
- Familiarity with City of Edmonton concrete standards & typical details is an asset
- First aid & other construction-related certificates or tickets are considered an asset
- The ability to read/interpret blueprints is considered an asset

**Position Responsibilities**:

- Prepare base & sub-base using tampers, jumping jacks, granular materials, & geo-têxtile materials, & other tools & equipment as required
- Construct & install forms using a variety of hand & power tools in addition to lasers & levels to verify proper elevations & slopes
- Place & tie reinforcement using standard rebar & prefabricated rebar assemblies with the correct layouts & spacing
- Aftercare of finished concrete (waterproofing, sealing, wet-curing, & densification)
- Work alongside carpenters, finishers, & labourers as a team to complete assigned work
- Monitoring the material to ensure it hardens to a durable finish without imperfections
- Continuous housekeeping of sites, equipment, & materials as required to ensure safety & organization are maintained

Pay: $30.00-$38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 60 per week

**Experience**:

- commercial or industrial structural concrete construction: 1 year (preferred)
- commercial or industrial flatworks concrete construction: 3 years (preferred)
- direct concrete placement & finishing: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- AB Class 5 Non-GDL Driver's License or equivalent (required)
- CSTS 2020 (Free, online, non-expiring ASCA course) (required)
