TECHNICIAN, SPECIAL PROJECTS CREW - LEDUC

JOB POSTING # 29-22

Progressive Wage Rate: $38.78 - $41.06 per hour
Working Hours: 40 hours per week

Key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Assisting in the installation, construction and maintenance of high pressure and distribution regulating stations and metering facilities;
- Assisting with pre-commissioning and activation as well as the decommissioning and deactivation of regulating stations;
- Installing gas piping systems and perform such duties as: trenching, excavating, stringing, fusing, pipe fitting, testing, back-filling, tamping, purging, painting, and general clean-up activities;
- Locating natural gas transmission pipelines, performing alterations to service lines and mains, retiring services and mains, installing and exchange meters, turn off and re-light appliances as directed, read meters and repair leaks on Company facilities;
- Competently operating construction and heavy work equipment, including backhoes, trenchers, compressors, service trucks, tractor trailer units, and skid steers as required and
- Participating, contributing and adhering to the Company’s safety program, Occupational Health & Safety.

Qualifications include:

- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Minimum of three years in a construction-related job;
- Valid Alberta Class 1 driver's license with air endorsement is preferred;
- Ability to perform all necessary physical requirements of the position;
- Ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude and dexterity when using tools, equipment and instruments;
- Ability to demonstrate good communication skills, decision making skills and a strong work ethic;
- Proficiency working with various computer software systems including Microsoft Office suite and
- Ability to demonstrate safe work habits and adhere to safety regulations.

During the construction season, typically May through to December, this position will be required to travel within the province of Alberta for up to three weeks at a time. In addition, this position is responsible for responding to high pressure system emergencies which may occur outside of regular scheduled hours.
