Carlton House of Oak Bay, an upscale independent senior living community, is looking to hire a reliable, experienced Breakfast-Lunch Cook.

This is a permanent full-time job opportunity, 5 days per week, 7am - 3pm shifts, 40 weekly paid hours.

We offer a starting wage of $21 an hour. However, this may be negotiable depending on experience, so feel free to submit your expectations. Benefits will be starting on your first day of employment.

**Responsibilities**:

- prepare a variety of breakfast and lunch dishes to order
- plate meals in an attractive, appetizing manner and maintain uniform serving sizes
- monitor and record temperatures of food prior to service
- monitor and record refrigerator and freezer temperatures
- maintain food preparation and food storage areas in a clean and orderly manner
- follow food safety procedures and best practices for handling and storing ingredients
- work in accordance with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- perform other duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Two years' cooking experience
- Food Safe Level 1
- Flu and Hepatitis A&B vaccines
- Criminal record check

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Ability to work quickly and efficiently
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively as a team member
- Physically able to carry out the duties of the position (e.g. lift 50 lbs)
- Ability to effectively organise and prioritise workload
- Ability to operate related equipment
