**Job Title**: Early Childhood Educator

**Location**: 5 Silverwood Terrace, Halifax, NS, B3M 2Y9

**Hours of work**:40hrs/week

**Salary**:
Entry Level
- $14.50/hr

ECE Level 1- $19.10/hr

ECE Level 2- $20.81/hr

ECE Level 3-$21.67/hr

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Teach basic skills such as colours, shapes, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene and social skills.
- Meet the interest and needs of the individual child and group.
- Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling and physical health.
- Adapting to the daily routines and transitions.
- Greet children and parents with positivity
- Play, talk, teach children and comfort them when necessary.
- Establish and enforce rules for behaviour and procedures for maintaining order.
- Prepare materials and classroom for class activities.
- Prepare and serve meals/snacks.
- Toilet train/change diapers.
- Teach proper eating habits and personal hygiene.
- Help supervisors/director keep records.
- Maintain and clean daycare equipment and teaching space.
- Discuss children’s progress and challenges at staff meetings.

**ESSIENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED BY STAFF**
- Able to speak, read, and write English.
- Ability to fill a full time position, working 40 hours per week.
- Provide evidence of current Emergency (min.) First Aid Certification, including CPR-C (updated every three years).
- Submit Child Abuse Registry Check (updated every three years).
- Submit copies of Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (updated every five years.).
- Provide Tax Withholding Information for payroll purposes.
- Provide evidence of Early Childhood Training or be actively engaged in activities to achieve Entry Level Status.
- Provide copies of Driver’s Licence and Social Insurance Number.
- Provide Classification Letter.
- Undertake and complete thirty hours of Professional Development every three years.
- Able to maintain ratios: (6:1): toddlers (8:1) preschoolers (15:1) school age;
