**Assistant Project Manager with Experience in Window Construction**

**Norstar Windows and Doors has an immediate need for an Assistant Project Manager with windows/window wall/curtain wall experience.**

The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for assisting Project Managers to ensure best practice(s) in project quote, review, start-up, and completion. This position will work closely with the Operations, Installation Manager, and Service personnel.

**Job Details**:

- Location: Mostly Golden Horseshoe but some projects outside GTA.
- Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 depending on experience.

**Job Duties**:

- Communicates with Project Manager and project team to provide project updates.
- Assists Project Manager with schedule including communicating and following up on project milestones and goals, by implementing and maintaining project schedules through design-assist, engineering, detailing, procurement, fabrication, and installation timelines to meet contractual requirements.
- Assists Project Manager to develop project specific logic for site logistics, hoisting and equipment to efficiently manage onsite installation labour.
- Assists Project Manager with the Design-Assist Timeline including sharing technical expertise with project team through the development of project to meet building codes, budget, and installation logic. Provides effective value engineering ideas to Project Manager to bring project on time and in budget.
- May be required to attend Pre-Tender meetings with Project Manager or as substitute, and reports back to Norstar.
- May be required to attend site start-up meetings with Project Manager or as substitute, and report back details to Norstar.
- Attend site meeting for progress, report details back to Project Manager if Project Manager is absent.
- Assists Project Manager in conducting site inspections, following procedures for documentation.
- May review sites for any remaining materials or rental equipment. Provides Project Manager with updates as required.
- May be required to prepare and maintain progress and other reports as assigned by Project Manager
- Work with Project Manager and possibly Norstar Management and site representatives to resolve site problems, and complaints.
- Enforces health and safety requirements and sanitation regulations at sites.
- Work with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within and between departments.
- Track and review project proposals of change and change orders as assigned by Project Manager.
- Constantly look for improvements and help implement solutions.
- Complete time sheets.
- May be required to assist Project Manager in the design and preparation of detailed electronic (CAD) working plans, charts and/or scale drawings for window, door and railing projects from observation, measurements, sketches, and specifications.
- May be required to assist Project Manager in the production of detailed, final drawings and specifications using dedicated computer software (CAD) to produce design specifications, including parts lists and cost.
- May be required to assist in the creation of custom window, door and railings designs from elevation sketches and incorporate custom window, door and railing drawings into tool palettes.
- May be required to assist in the organization and maintenance of a design and CAD digital file database for each project.
- May be required to assist in the revision of computer-aided designs and plans to comply with modified specifications made during actual construction as assigned by the Project Manager.
- May be required to interface with departmental personnel to obtain details of equipment and materials requirements as instructed by Project Manager.
- Review plans and written technical reports to meet project specifications.
- May be required to assist the Project Manager in the completion of documentation packages and produce drawing sets.
- Employ problem-solving strategies and find solutions to product design issues.
- May be required to assist in the facilitation and assurance that the quality of design, drawings and graphic work produced.

**Requirements**:

- Post secondary diploma in related field or equivalent experience.
- Advanced ability to effectively problem-solve, communicate (orally and in writing).
- Team player within multi-disciplined team.
- Experienced in the Fenestration Industry.
- Strong organizational skill set.
- Working knowledge of design software Auto Cad.
- Proven analytical skills and the ability to identify customer needs and the ability to effectively communicate them.
