Youth Coordinator

This position supports the work of the YMCA of Northern Alberta, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Youth Coordinator will support the supervision and implementation of both structured registered programming and unstructured Youth Programming at the Northside Community Centre YMCA, including youth outreach programs. Youth programs comprise, but are not limited to, collaboration with other agencies, Youth Centre Mentorship program, Teen Night, and the Skatepark Mentorship program for children and youth between the ages of 3-18yrs. The incumbent will support the Youth Department for half of the work week and will support the child and Youth Program Department the other half of the work week. Details of the work week will be discussed before the start date and will be fluid as programs evolve and change.

**Essential Functions**
- Recruit, train, and supervise program instructors, youth centre staff, and volunteers to ensure smooth program operations.
- Plan, implement, and oversee child and youth activities, including special events and outreach initiatives.
- Supervise participants during programming, addressing behavior in accordance with YMCA’s policies, and creating a positive, inclusive environment.
- Work with Supervisors to ensure programs meet high standards and are adapted to participant needs, while managing daily operations on-site and off-site.
- Provide opportunities for children and youth to grow in spirit, mind, and body, while modeling and encouraging YMCA’s values.
- Complete necessary administrative tasks, including budget tracking, incident reporting, and data collection for evaluation purposes.
- Collaborate with community organizations, schools, and agencies to maximize resources for participants.
- Ensure YMCA equipment is inspected regularly and maintained properly.
- Work within allocated budgets to ensure cost-effective program delivery.
- Participate in training and respond to emergencies as needed, ensuring the safety of staff, volunteers, and participants.
**What You'll Need**
- Minimum 18+ years of age
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Previous Child and Youth work and mentorship or related experience
- Certifications: Intermediate First Aid & CPR-C
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Must obtain employer specific WHMIS and Child Protection Training within 30 days of hire date
