Canmore General Hospital is hiring Environmental Services II (housekeeper/cleaner). If you see something that needs attention, even garbage on the floor, you step in safely and professionally to take care of it because every action helps support patient care. We'll train you to safely clean and disinfect our healthcare buildings. Environmental Services staff follow cleaning and disinfecting protocols while cleaning surfaces and patient equipment in assigned areas such as patient rooms, treatment rooms, emergency and operating rooms, washrooms, offices, and corridors. Duties include cleanup of blood and body fluids, washing walls, using ladders/step stools to change privacy curtains, routine floor care with mops, scrubbers, and buffers, and removing waste such as garbage, biomedical, and recycling to designated holding areas. Staff must wear personal protective equipment, including masks, gloves, gowns, and eye protection for long periods while working safely and following protocols. Work is completed with mínimal supervision in a fast-paced environment that can sometimes be stressful. Environmental Services staff must remain kind, approachable, and professional when interacting with patients, families, and healthcare staff, providing excellent customer service. Shift schedules may include of day, evening, night, and weekend shifts. Canmore (population ~14,000) is a lively mountain town just 80 km west of Calgary and 25 km from Banff. Known for outdoor adventures, arts and festivals. It combines resort living with small-town charms. Health services are anchored by Canmore General Hospital.
Description:
As an Environmental II, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with intensive or specialized cleaning within a hospital or facility associated with industrial cleaning supplies and by using powered industrial equipment. Your typical duties may include operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance, thorough washing of ceilings and windows and emptying hazardous waste. You may also provide training/orientation to Environmental staff.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Knowledge and operation of a computer including Microsoft Office. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform repetitive movements for the duration of your shift. Physically capable to lift, push and pull up to 30 lbs of force.
**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Must read, write, speak, and follow written and verbal instructions in English to work safely. Ability to climb ladders/step stools, squat, bend, and reach in all directions (including overhead). Must have sufficient hand strength to perform repetitive wiping, wringing, and gripping motions. Ability to independently push and pull up to 30 lbs of force and lift up to 50 lbs (e.g., push linen carts, lift soiled linen/garbage bags). Must wear personal protective equipment (e.g., surgical/N95 masks, eye protection) for extended periods; a clean-shaven face is required for respirator fit testing. Dependable, cooperative, with a customer service attitude and able to work with mínimal supervision. Basic computer and smartphone knowledge required. All new employees will be required to attend a 6-day Environmental Services Orientation.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Knowledge of hospital housekeeping policy and procedures. Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting in health care environment. Customer service experience. Leadership experience such as working leader, shift lead, trainer or equivalent.
