**Salary**: $3,241.74 - $4,362.44 bi-weekly ($84,609 - $113,859 / year)

Executive Council supports the Premier and Cabinet to ensure outcomes are achieved by supporting strategic planning, coordinated policy development, and informed decision-making for ministries as they implement the government’s agenda.

Executive Council includes the Office of the Premier, Deputy Ministers' and Associate Deputy Ministers' Offices, Cabinet Coordination and Ministry Services, Policy Coordination Office, and Intergovernmental Relations.

Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) leads the coordination and advancement of Alberta's priorities as they relate to other governments across Canada. IGR works with other ministries across the Government of Alberta to manage Alberta’s partnerships with other provinces and the federal government, coordinate Alberta’s participation in national and provincial forums, and negotiate agreements with other jurisdictions.

The Economic and Resource Policy Branch of Intergovernmental Relations Division offers an exciting opportunity for an individual with confident negotiation and leadership skills, a thorough understanding of federalism, and a strong background in public policy.

Reporting to the Director of Economic and Resource Policy, as Associate Director of Economic and Resource Policy, you will support and influence Alberta’s intergovernmental activities for a portfolio of ministries with an economic, environmental, and resources focus.

**Your key responsibilities include**:

- Identifying intergovernmental issues and analyzing the implications for Alberta.
- Developing and coordinating Alberta policy positions on emerging or recurring intergovernmental issues.
- Providing strategic intergovernmental advice for client ministries.
- Supporting Alberta’s participation in a variety of fora, including the Council of the Federation and sector-specific ministerial meetings.
- Representing the Ministry in intergovernmental meetings.
- Participating in the negotiation of intergovernmental agreements to ensure Alberta’s intergovernmental interests are represented.

- A related university degree (e.g., Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Business, Social Sciences, etc.), supplemented by at least four (4) years of related experience. Equivalencies may be considered.
- Strong understanding of the relationship between policy, stakeholder engagement, and political environments.
- Proven experience coordinating projects within complex and evolving environments.
