- The position leads and coaches professional and technical staff, delivering strategic geospatial advice and solutions to internal and external clients. The leader is accountable for aligning geospatial strategies and operations with corporate goals, while modeling professionalism in team development, and product and process delivery.
Success in this role requires a strong understanding of current and emerging aerial imagery technology, geospatial data management, client relationship skills, project and change management expertise, and the ability to leverage knowledge across the organization and with external partners. The leader must communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely and bring a strong business acumen to the role, including performance metrics, process improvement, budgeting, and business planning. The ability to match evolving workforce skills with tight deliverable timelines, while articulating clear expectations is critical.
Areas of oversight and responsibility, combined with working knowledge of the specific service areas include:
- Maintain and coordinate data maintenance for 911 Dispatch Mapping.
- Conduct data maintenance processes for transportation networks.
- Support the Corporate Imagery Program including technical products, processes and vendor coordination.
- Provide support for and be called upon at all Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) exercises and emergency events.
**Qualifications**
- A degree in Business, Geography, Geomatics, Engineering (Civil or Municipal) or a related field with at least 8 years of experience in a geospatial technology, data management and mapping work environment, including 5 years of which was in a leadership role; OR
- A completed 2-year diploma or applied degree in a geo-spatial-related program with at least 10 years of experience in a geospatial technology, data management and mapping work environment, including 5 years of which was in a leadership role.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
- A strong ability to coach, counsel, influence and negotiate win-win scenarios is required.
- A strong understanding of geospatial technology, data management and analytics is necessary.
- Knowledge and experience with One Calgary capital and operating business plans, budgeting and performance metrics would be considered assets.
- You will have a strong customer focus, extensive project planning and management, business literacy, business development and change management expertise.
