**Superintendent**

Our client is a reputable heavy civil general contracting company based in Kenora, ON, specializing in road building, sewer and water infrastructure, and heavy civil construction, They are seeking an experienced Superintendent to optimize, grow and enhance their dynamic team.

As the Superintendent, you’ll have the autonomy to lead on site, ensuring safety, efficiency and productivity of the team, equipment, and processes. The role demands strong leadership, and exceptional organizational, professional, and people skills to inspire and manage a high performing team. The role demands an ownership mentality with a growth mindset. Someone who thrives on growing, coaching and mentoring a team while building relationships with new and existing clients.

**Responsibilities**
- Serve as the on-site primary point of contact, coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, and stakeholders;
- Enforce safety protocols, conduct regular inspections, and promptly address concerns to maintain a safe construction site for all personnel;
- Create and manage project schedules to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to meet key milestones and deadlines;
- Monitor on-site construction activities to ensure all work meets quality standards and specifications, conducting regular inspections and quality checks;
- Oversee and coordinate construction crews by assigning tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring performance to ensure efficient completion of work;
- Manage procurement and delivery of materials and equipment for construction activities;
- Provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders on project status, milestones, issues, and delays;
- Address challenges such as design changes, material shortages, or unexpected site conditions by developing effective solutions to keep the project on track;
- Track and record expenses to ensure projects remain within budget, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement measures to manage costs without compromising quality or safety;
- Ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and construction codes, secure necessary permits and approvals, and maintain documentation to demonstrate compliance;
- Lead the construction team by providing guidance, motivation, and support to ensure efficient and effective performance;
- Take on additional duties and responsibilities as needed.

**Required Skills and Experience**
- 3-5 years of experience working as a Superintendent or similar role in the construction industry;
- Experience with heavy civil projects or sewer and water systems is an asset;
- Innovative, analytical, and critical decision-making skills with a strong ability to problem solve while adapting to changing priorities;
- Superior organizational skills and follow-up to successfully take ownership and manage heavy workloads in a challenging work environment;
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and efficiency;
- Must be able and willing to travel to multiple job sites across Northwestern Ontario, occasionally overnight;
- Ability to prioritize workloads, understanding the seasonality and occasional times when longer hours are needed to meet project deadlines;
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal);
- Strong understanding of provincial safety regulations and safe work procedures;
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and team management skills;
- Proficiency in MS Office software;
- Must have a valid driver’s license;
- The ability to pass a Criminal Record Check.
