Position Summary

Pacheedaht First Nation is seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to join our Pacheedaht Daycare (Name of the new daycare space will be “Children of the Seafoam”). Reporting to the daycare manager, the ECE will play a crucial role in providing a safe, nurturing, and culturally enriching environment for children aged 3-5.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure the program promotes healthy, physical, cognitive, emotional and social development.
- Ensure the continuous supervision, safety and well-being of all children.
- Develop and implement culturally appropriate curriculum and activities.
- Recognize and respond to each child’s needs using developmentally appropriate teachings and behavior management techniques
- Observe and document children’s progress and development
- Plan each day and give tasks to the ECEA or R.A working in your class
- Assist with community initiatives such as cultural activities and events.
- Communicate with parents

Other Requirements
- Up to date immunizations per licensing regulations
- Ability to physically participate in activities with children, including lifting and outdoor play.
- Must demonstrate professionalism while dealing with sensitive issues including discretion and sound judgement.
- High degree of trust and confidentiality.
- Two references
- Good interpersonal skills; able to model positive behaviors, attitudes, and values.
- Strong teamwork skills: able to build good working relationships, model ethical decision making and promote life-long learning.
- Able to communicate effectively with children and parents and promote values of mutual respect.

**Qualifications**:

- Valid ECE Certificate
- Criminal Record Check
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with young children in a licensed childcare setting.
- Current first aid and CPR certificate.
- Class 4 driver’s license

Hours of Work
- 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday

Salary & Benefits
- $25-$29 per hour, based on qualifications
- Opportunities for professional development and training
- 10 Sick/personal days a year
