- As a Technical Trainer reporting to the Training Delivery Team Lead, you will deliver standardized, technical, job-specific, and compliance-related training to employees in Water Services. You will also participate as a Subject Matter Expert in the assessment of learning needs, as well as the development of learning and training strategies and solutions to meet those needs. Primary duties include:
- Provide instruction to small and large groups of employees in job-specific and technical topics to meet course objectives and following specified training standards.
- Facilitate scenarios and drills, demonstrate processes and proper use of equipment, and facilitate hands-on practical exercises.
- Participate in the needs analysis and development of job-specific learning programs, and technical/safety courses related to Water Services¿ work. Prepare and set up class materials and resources.
- Manage classroom dynamics and provide learners with timely and constructive feedback.
- Observe and evaluate learners as they perform processes, procedures, and tasks that they were taught in training.
- Evaluate learners¿ progress using standardized measures of competency such as knowledge exams or practical demonstrations; advise management when competence is achieved and submit documentation for records when required.
**Qualifications**
- A High School diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED) and at least 5 years of relevant experience in water or wastewater operations, construction, and/or safety related occupations is required.
- Training or experience in adult learning, teaching, or coaching is required.
- Experience in delivering practical safety-related training (such as fall protection, confined space entry, hazard identification, etc.) is required.
- Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (AEPA) certification in Water or Wastewater will be considered an asset.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team, manage multiple projects, write and edit detailed documents, and work in a changing environment is essential for success in this position.
