**Community Resource Liaison (CRL)**

(1 Part-time position)

Delta Family Resource Centre (Delta Family, DF) is a community-based agency which has served communities in North-West Toronto for more than 35 years. Situated in ethno-racially diverse communities, Delta Family equips people with the tools and resources they need to live progressively fulfilling lives, using community-grounded approaches. A multi-ethnic, multi-site organization, Delta Family provides a responsive range of programs, services and activities for families, young children and their caregivers, youth, the Black community and seniors. Delta Family is seeking diverse (age, gender and ethnicity) Community Resource Liaisons to design, develop and deliver the highly-targeted, community-based and culturally relevant program activities (resource supports, information sessions, workshops and community related supportive services) tailored to the needs of Black students and families (“the Services”) with a focus on confronting and addressing anti-Black racism.

Community supports will be provided in the Region of Peel (the municipalities of Brampton and Mississauga) and Toronto’s Rexdale, Firgrove/Jane-Finch, and Kingsview Village neighborhoods. Partners include Delta Family’s Stop Now And Plan Program (SNAP®) and Student and Family Advocate (SFA) Programs. Requirement and Responsibilities:

- Conduct workshops that address and confront Anti-Black Racism and its impact on Black families, students and their life success.
- Provide informational sessions to students, families and key stakeholders to raise awareness on issues regarding racism
- Amplify the voices and experiences of Black students and families to activate changes in education systems
- Provide referrals to existing services to address gaps in family needs based on assessment(s) (coordinating available resources)
- Provide navigational supports and work with Black students and families to identify their needs, aspirations,and goals, and implement culturally relevant and actionable plans to help them respond effectively to barriers to success, pursue opportunities, and self-advocate. CRLs will provide guidance and support as students and families carry out their plans
- Development of resources and tools to identify trends while addressing gaps in services across and within systems they engage with that create challenges in them as they aspire to reach their full potential.
- Leverage cross-sector networks to connect/refer Black families and children to appropriate and relevant community supports and services that will enhance the impact of the SFA program.
- Provide Black students with culturally relevant mentorship, guidance, coaching and other community supports to enable academic success.
- Support Black students with the creation and implementation of education/career/life pathway plans as they relate to individual goal setting and achievement.Secondary Roles and Responsibilities:

- Participate in Trainings and Orientation
- Engage and collaborate with established Advisory Committees, FOCUS Tables and other related networks
- Establish Partnerships / Formalize Relationships
- Develop and design program tools, program promotion, outreach plans and other program material(s)
- Conduct intake and needs assessments for referrals
- Data Management and tracking
- Other duties as assigned (inter-agency activities)

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in child & youth care, education, training, human resources, social work or related area or relevant experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with Black and racialized children and families
- Experience with networking and liaising with community members, agencies using a variety of approaches and engagement techniques
- Lived experience of the impact of Anti-Black racism and oppression and of the issues facing diverse Black communities.
- An understanding of the impact Anti-Black racism has on the Black youth and the need for culturally relevant programming for this constituency
- Ability to work independently as well as functioning effectively as part of a team
- Effective case management skills and experience using implementation tools for data management
- Ability to prioritize tasks and effective documentation skills
- Ability to facilitate and/or co-facilitate workshops and information sessions to diverse groups
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Supporting children, youth and families through advocacy as they navigate the education system
- Excellent follow-through when corresponding with clients, partners and staff
