Personal Support Worker

Are you a RN, RPN, or PSW in the Greater Toronto Area looking for a side hustle, part-time work, or additional full time work? RK Health offers shifts ranging from 1 hour
- 12 hours, during the day and night. So you choose what is best for you. We are looking for RN, RPN, and PSW to work as independent contractors in the role of trainers to caregivers and/or respite care providers.

How it works:
Tell us your availability 4-6 weeks in advance, based on your personal and/or primary work commitments.

1-4 week prior to your shifts RK Health will let you know what shifts are possible to pick up

Based on what you submitted you can pick up as many shifts as you like, no cap

As you hit more milestones and based on your performance, you will get bonuses

**RK Health Offerings/Services**:

- Training for Caregivers
- Caregiver Training provides practical and behavioral training to those caring for people who are aging or have Alzheimer's/dementia. Caregiver Trainers (RPN, RN, or PSW) will teach Caregivers how to support the person they are caring for with day to day activities (personal hygiene, transferring, toileting, etc.) and behavior management. (shifts range from 1 hour to 8 hours)
- Respite Care
- Respite care includes emotional and physical care in the home for the patient while caregivers are away attending to other duties such as: working, evenings away, work/family/social commitments, or anything else (shifts will range from 1 hour to 12 hours+)

**Training Provider Responsibilities**

As a PSW Caregiver Trainer you will be leveraging your skills and experience as a PSW to teach, both practical and behavioral health / home care skills, New Family Caregivers how to correctly care for their loved one. The patient they are caring for will be someone who is aging, with Alzheimer's, or aging; if you have any of these experiences, please highlight that in your resume or cover letter. Responsibilities of the role include:

- Going to the place of care / home of the caregiver and patient
- Evaluate the needs of the caregiver and patient upon arrival at a training appointment
- Being able to critically think, assess the clients needs, create a plan with the family on how to attain their goals, and creating a training plan for the caregiver
- Provide the caregiver hands on training how to conduct the activities of daily living for their loved one (the patient)
- Demonstrating and explaining clearly to the family how to do these techniques by going through the motions with the caregiver which they will have to do.
- Provide the caregiver behavioral tips and techniques they will need to know to best care for their loved one (patient)
- Provide pamphlets on talking techniques and ADLs
- Supporting the caregiver with the care of the patient while you are there as needed
- Listen to the caregiver
- their concerns and fears and support them in crafting tools and techniques to help them overcome their fears
- Have therapeutic communication with the family about their concerns and validate and support their needs.
- Report any learnings back to the RK Health Management team

**Respite Provider Responsibilities**

As a PSW Respite Care Provider you will be providing 1:1 therapeutic supervision of a patient who is aging, has Alzheimer's, or is aging
- while their family caregiver is away. Responsibilities of this role include:

- Conducting an intake based on predetermined questions with the client family
- Collaborate with the family and define a respite plan
- Going to the place of care / home of the caregiver and patient
- Provide 1:1 therapeutic supervision of the client/patient
