**Key Responsibilities**:
Reporting to Director of Wellness, the incumbent will be responsible for serving the needs of the clients, within the scope of practice. This includes:

- Carries out treatments as directed by the registered staff and documents accordingly.
- Collaborates with other personnel to ensure continuity of care.
- Cooperates with and assists other agencies providing services to the client.
- Maintains a safe and clean environment.
- Deals tactfully and courteously with clients, families and visitors and reports any problems to the supervisor.
- Notifies the nurse on duty of any client incidents and accidents and completes documentation as required.
- Responds to client call bells and door alarms promptly.
- Completes all aspects of client care as outlined in the service plan and assignment.
- Communicates with nurse on duty about activities, needs and problems related to client care and/or safety.
- Transports client to and from their suites, recreational activities, nursing office and dining room as required.
- Ensures that own personal grooming is appropriate and uniform/dress is clean, tidy and according to dress code.
- Carries out all duties in a safe manner and adheres to lifting policies at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Performance Requirements**:

- Continuously follow the principles of “good customer service” and ensure that these values are demonstrated in day to day office practices.
- Follows all Infection Control policies, applicable to the job.
- Participate in all aspect of the staff development program i.e identifying own learning need, attending and evaluation education program.
- Participate in the development of unit and objectives, promoting team building and achieving customer satisfaction
- Participates in team conferences as required
- Completes all required annual mandatory training/education
- Complies with the occupational Health and Safety, workplace safety and insurance act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System. This including health and safety, hazard, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills
- Purchases departmental supplies within recreation budget when needed.

**Physical Job Requirements**:
This position requires the incumbent to be able to:

- Frequently lift to 25 pounds.
- Use both hands and feet on a regular basis to perform physical assisting duties.
- Bend, kneel, and work with arms raised for periods of time.
- Walk and stand on a variety of surfaces for at least 4 hrs per day.
- Climb stairs, operate elevators and move small equipment.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

**Required qualifications**:

- Maintains a certificate as a Personal Support Worker.
- Knowledgeable of the Health and Safety regulations.
- Experienced in geriatric, long term care or retirement residence.
- Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Good verbal and written English skills.

**Salary**: $20.00 per hour
